Oh, and about still using floppies...I use one to back up my MS Money file. All of my documents are backed up to an external HDD, but I figure why not make one more copy of that very important file on a floppy.

in my schools journalism lab, the A: is for floppies and the B: is for the zip drives . . . so KIND OF like the two floppy thing

WTF? All the zips I've ever seen are on D with the rest of the real removable media. Someone freaking manually assigned drive letters? What a filthy waste.

I assigned my zip drive "z" because I was bored one day. That filled a whole 2 seconds of time, and I promptly removed the zip drive and threw it away an hour later, because in my boredom I pondered how I don't use zip drives any more.

Then someone gave me a USB zip drive, and I stuck it in a box and haven't touched it. (see below.)

Ahh the good old days. I'm sure this has been said before but I've got some neffing to do.

A: is the floppy floppy. ie, the floppy disks were actually bendable
B: is the "hard" floppy. ie, the floppy disks were rigid. It's the floppy disk that is still occasionally seen today.

Why only occasionally? A 3.5" floppy is a nice simple form of small file backup. Plus you can't boot a computer or flash a BIOS with a jump drive now can you?

Or, maybe you can and I just don't know how.

Newer hardware supports such a feature, yes - even in notebooks. Depends on manufacturer and model, of course.
