Whats the average rate per hour for computer repair at stores?

Just finished fixing a computer tonight and the lady told me $20/hour was crazy.

I usually charge $25 for In home. Am I asking too much?

No way. I'd charge like $50/hour or more.

Yup - many small businesses will assume something is wrong if you're charging less than $100/hour.

I did work for a small business the other day. They were having network problems with their POS and told me they just re-did the wiring and the network. I asked who did them, and the owner said one of his worker's son. I about shat myself when I looked at what the kid had done

Partial crimps, mismatching pairs, way excess stripping, too short of runs. A connector on one of the machines actually came off in my hand For 6 cables, the kid had gone through approximately 40 connectors out of the 100 pack. I'm honestly suprised their was any connectivity at all.

I mean it's not as bad as putting the HR computer (at another small business, with employee information including salaries, SS#, addresses, and other information) on an unsecured wireless network (which I hooked a laptop up to and showed management how I accessed their payroll data), but it was some shoddy work.

I won't leave my house for less than $100 an hour and a 2 hour minimum, but most of my work is centered on more than basic repair. That said you probably pay a mechanic $60+ an hour to fix your car, one shouldn't expect anything less for basic computer repair either.

start at $60 and if you get some business, then jack it up to $75
you don't want them calling you back for little silly crap

Our rates are $60/hr for PC, $95/hr for Networking, and if we have to call someone off of another job or something like that, it can get as high as $105/hr.

I'm a dumbass...I let my neighbor rope me into reinstalling Windows on her computer a few months ago. I was over there for almost 2 fvcking hours (it's a slow computer).

I would say min 50/hr, including travel time for in-home.

Or maybe 50/hr if they bring it to you, and 65/hr if you go in-home?

Wow, you're cheap. Most places here charge $60per hour $30 after. And $100 flat in home. I usually charge about $500 per comp build.

People ask me here at my work if I can come to their house and look at their jacked up computers. I tell them my going rate is 75 dollars an hour + parts. They usually dont bother me anymore

My job charges $85 an hour in shop and $95 an hour + travel for onsite work.

I do pc related works on the side <I have a full time job> and I charge about $50/hr with 1 hr minimum. Plus mileage if I have to travel long distance.

If you bring your PC to my house I charge $80/hour. If I have to come to your home I charge $100/hour. If I am consulting for your business I charge $100/hour. If I am consulting for your business and have to come to your work place I charge $125/hour.

These services aren't free and I don't work on other people's PCs/Networks because it's fun.

I charged $25/hr, mostly as a favor for the small business my sister was working for, as I didn't really have any other work at the time. If I were to go into business fixing computers, I'd charge upwards of $50/hr and $100/hr if it includes networking, and a higher rate for small business and bigger.
