Dropped it about 3 ft off the ground and it hit the concrete floor at the top corner. The aluminum is dented slightly but no crack in the glass. LCD is probably damaged cause it's blank but I can see the backlighting come on.

There's numerous online tutorials on how to replace it but if I'm not feeling daring enough what should I be expecting if I took/ship it in for repair?

The replacement cost is approximately $249 from apple if your device is out of warranty. Some 3rd party outfits charge way less. Depends on your location and local availability of service.

Got a CNET approved video tutorial for self repair however I wouldn't touch it myself.

Let us know what you decide and what your service experience was like.

Given that it's probably about $100-150 to get it fixed, and you don't know if it's just the screen that's defective (since the screen doesn't even come on), and because the case is dented, I'd just say fsck it and get a new iPad Air. ;)

its probably better to just buy a new one for 299 dollars if to replace the screen costs 250.

Check with Craigslist for local iPad repair store I had iPad 1 screen cracked and they repaired it for 99 bucks so for iPad 2 should be around 150.
