What's the appeal of Snoop Dog?

I dont understand, what is the appeal of snoop dog? He's lasted soo long. When he first came out, in the juice and gin era, he was cool. But 20 years later he's still making appearances on albums and everyone loves him? Why? His voice is annoying. He sounds like a sleazy pubescent car sales man. Even his rhymes suck. They all about pimp this and pimp that. And he's been balding now for a while, but he maintains braids which makes his forehead look like the back of a Toyota Echo.
 
Guess the same appeal applies to him that applies to pop 40 top of the pops music, its what you are told is popular. If you accept that, you buy into it until the next jelly belly flavor is concieved. Same goes for reality tv, just terrible and shoved down our throats. I follow the self applied rule of "you dont like it, dont do it", goes well with tv and music 🙂

Dr. Dre + Murder Trial = street cred
He gets good producers, his rhymes suck but his beats aren't the worst thing ever. He also makes the right appearances (Old School) to keep himself in the spotlight for just a bit longer.
 
His style is so very different from most other crappers. He was one of the first to hit it big, pushing the west-coast style farther into the spotlight.

It's like Elvis. Elvis absolutely blows. His music is terrible, but he was a pioneer and everyone still loves him.
