RWD is -very- easy to pull donuts with. After a good ice/snow storm, take your RWD out into an abandoned parking lot and spin it a while! Mind the light poles..

<< Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4
Lamborghini Diablo VT
>>

Not nearly as fun as RWD cars in the same class.

Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4: If I had enough money to buy this, I'd buy a Toyota Supra Turbo
Lamborghini Diablo VT: I'd buy a Ferrari 550 Maranello.

As for the cars I listed...the Porsche 928 is VERY attainable now. A good condition S4 will run you about $15-20K.

Because of acceleration and weight balancing, rear-wheel drives tend to have the advantage during hard acceleration from stop. They also turn better because the drive wheels are responsible for steering.

During hard acceleration from stop, the weight gets thrown from the front to the back in FWD, and nothing in the back pushes back, so it has a slight lag on take-offs.
RWD are pushing from the back at all times, and the weight doesn't get shifted back anymore.

Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4

4000lbs huh... Sorry even with turbo's thats way too much weight that's almost as much as a dodge dakota.. It's not that fast.

Put twin turbo's on a GT and see what happens

I've seen 0-60 times on the 3000GT VR4 at 5.4. Not shabby if you ask me, especially for a two ton vehicle.

yeah.. that's pretty quick, considering the weight.

Uh huh? I'm not a fan of 3000GTs, but try racing a stock VR4 with your stock GT. I want to see who wins.

Wow lupin your calling me the stupid one last night?? Your wanting me to compare a GT $27K vs. a $45K car. Why dont you use that IQ thats so much higher and read the name? Give me the benefit of a SVT Cobra for $30K and sure I'd race a VR4. Also if even the GT was Twin-Turbo'd which one do you think would win??? Thats right.

Hmm, 0-60 in 3.6s versus 4.7... I think I'll take the Diablo

And as for you SVT: that car runs 14 second 1/4s stock. It's definitly not slow.

Your right my Lightning that can run a 13.9 is the slow one. Damn trucks and all thier weight.

Should have spent the extra $10,000 to get the VR4

Hmm, wonder if that truck can outhandle the VR4....

If you wanna get into price - you coulda spent $12k and got a Twin Turbo 300ZX and ran 13's stock which woulda blown the doors off of your truck

For the extra 12K it better!!

Well atleast you finally said a fast car this time.

Stop defending that Crapsler owned POS the only thing that comes out of a CRAPsler factory is a Viper.

Also lets see the F-250 Superduty did the Slalem @ 60mph according to Motortrend and the VR4 did it at 67 MPH... Hmmmm I'm guessing my lightning has allot better handling then a F-250 wouldn't you???

Genocide,
Show me a Diablo VT(viscous track, I don't know the spelling but it translates to AWD), that can do 60 in less than 5.5 seconds. There are none that can do it stock.

Pony Car owners(sorry, some people have tainted your image),

How come you say you wouldn't go near a Corvette or Porsche, if you could have all the mods you want in your pony car? Now one of your own, albeit a muscle truck owner, is mocking lupin because we're comparing a $45K to a $27K car, implying that the $45K will just kill the $27K car? Sounds kinda weird to me.

I never said it would kill it. The VR4 isn't that much faster then a GT. What my point was is why is there all the hype for a $45K vehicle that has Turbo's and it only goes this fast? Does anyone on this site ever see a value in what they can buy? If your willing to spend $18K more on a car for only a 1/2 second faster car then that funny.. Did I mean fine?

It's like the prices of all the Diablos and everything, Are any of you in the market range for a car like that?? I guess I always dreamt when I was a young kid too. But now that I'm in the real world I know what is practical and affortable. What I don't get is all the bashing on us people who really do live in a reality. If I go and buy a $30K Cobra atleast I can drive the thing on the American road and not be afraid to use it or modify it. And if something breaks it's not $3K for a part.

What the real question is, Is why is it so bad to buy a vehicle thats practical and gets a bang for the buck?

So what I don't sit around and read magazines of what I would own if I won the lotto. I think it's stupid too about all this talk of handling. Do you guys actually get to road race all over your city's?? I know in Detroit there is no roads that support this and if you go too far over the speed limit they take your license away. Some how I feel this is the same across the Country.

Do all of you people get a Track in your backyard when you buy these cars. And how well does all your fantasy F1's handle in Traffic. Does it sit there faster?

I mentioned GT because you mentioned it RIGHT before that. And who's talking price now ?? I thought the argument was WEIGHT remember???

If I had said something like: "COBRA SUCKS, 3000GT RULES", then you can bring up the PRICE argument. See the difference??

Let me repeat:
I'm just saying that 3000GT is NOT slow.
I never said "WHOA that 3000GT is soo much better it will kick Cobra's ass so bad all the way to china."
If I did say that, then you can come in, mention how much cheaper the cobra is.. bla bla bla..

I told you that I am NOT A FAN OF THE 3000 GT. I'm just saying, the car is NOT SLOW. With the weight it carries, the car is NOT SLOW.
Get it?

And,

<< Do all of you people get a Track in your backyard when you buy these cars. And how well does all your fantasy F1's handle in Traffic. Does it sit there faster? >>

Ever heard of CLUB RACING ??? Ever heard of SCCA ??
Now the ultimate form of club racing is called "Ferrari Challenge". So YES, people DO race their FERRARIs. And If someday I'll make enough money, I'll race my FERRARI too.

<< Wow lupin your calling me the stupid one last night?? >>

The dumb gets dumber...

SVTCobra, both times I made a remark to you was because you were BASHING on some import. I never bashed ANYTHING, but your stupidity. See where you're going here?

LOL Man if you're going to sit here with your ford name and try to bash Chrysler, at least learn how to spell it, you'll appear less ignorant.

<< Stop defending that Crystler owned POS the only thing that comes ... >>

I'll admit Chrysler doesn't have many lighting fast cars right now, but they owned your ford butt during the 80's with the Turbo Z :) Did pretty good in the early 90's with the Daytona R/T and Spirit R/T. Actually as I recall one of the jeep grand cherokees with a 5.9 was actually pretty quick on the track too for a vehicle of its size.

AHA! So you're pulling 1/4 miles on the roads?? Now you're talking ROAD RACING! Only Unsafe, Stupid, Selfish, Uneducated JERKS races on the road.

I suggest you sell your truck and use the money to buy some library books.

Soybomb, I see that he's picking on Chrysler too.

at least Chrysler is winning LE MANS with their vipers. when did your all powerful all proud Mustang won its last race ??

Oh! I remember something. I had a video of the '90 German Touring Car. That year, it has my car in it, it has Mercedes' 190E in it, Audi's V8, Toyota Supra, and a Mustang 5.0!!!!

I'm not bullshitting here, but the Mustang was ALWAYS at the end of the pack, sliding all over the place during hairpins and chicanes, crashing into OTHER cars during the race. My car was taking 1st place from time to time.

Now if Ford Cosworth would start modifying Mustangs..

Nah I don't really care about the misspelling that much, just the generalization of chryslers. Thats like saying all ford owners are dumb. It might seem to the case but probably isn't so.

Uh huh.. I do make excess assumption so that I can bash at you more. Can't you see it???

The point there was not making the assumption. The point there is to show people how you are the typical dumb, unsafe, selfish driver.

-edit-
and what about my post before that?? can't write a decent reply to that one ?? just remember, I never said 3000GT is better than any mustang. I just said the car is fast for its weight.

<< Sorry that I mispelled a word on the internet Soybomb. But I'm so glad you work for the internet Spell guard >>

More stupid excuses. When you are in a debate, people picks on spelling errors. You don't make lame excuses with Internet Spell guards.

Hmmm Cobra R???

BTW nice that Dodge finally came to the table after 30 years of the AC Cobra being the fastest on the American road.

When is thier Diesel trucks gonna catch up with a PowerStroke also?
When is the Neon going to quit having head gasket leaks?
When are they going to get rid of that low HP gas guzzling 360?... 2002 I know, FINALLY
When are they going to quit selling Peg-Leg Durangos for way too much money?

At least you don't have STEERING WHEELS coming off in your durangos

<< DETROIT, MI (11/28/2000). For the fifth time in just over a year, Ford has told its U.S. dealers to stop selling the new Escape SUV and check vehicles for safety-related problems, the Associated Press reports. Dealers were notified Nov 18 about problems affecting 51,022 Escapes and about 24,000 Mazda Tributes which are similar to the Escape and built in the same plant in Claycomo, MO. Of those, 27,516 Escapes and about 12,500 Tributes have already been sold.

...

Dealers have previously had warnings about the steering wheel coming off, leaky fuel lines, incorrect wheel hubs, and a problem with the cruise control that could cause the throttle to stick on the Escape and Tribute, both of which went on sale only last August.
>>

I can just imagine.. you're driving down the highway, then your cruise control sticks, then your steering wheel came off, and finally your wheel start rolling off the hub...

scary thought...

Oh cmon SVT - the Neon had those problems years ago. Durango's are selling like hot cakes - and you don't even mention how successful they've been with their line of sedans have been.
