My gate in my front yard has one of those latches that look like this, except its dual lever and extremely sharp at both ends. I dont like it because it is just at the right height (about 3ft)to inflict some damage to my kids while they are playing and running back and forth if they ever do happen to smack into it. You know how kids get to playing and not paying attention. I do my best to keep the gate closed while they are playing and I am always there with them, but the little monkeys know how to open it and sometimes it is constantly being opened and left that way.
Anyways, I remember seeing something somewhere that coats metal in a rubberized plastic and I figure that would at least add some preventitive measures, however, I am having trouble finding it.
