I had seen a thread a while back about getting money to do surveys, and some members here were enrolled in these programs...what were the sites??

I'm gonna go on a limb and guess you get 1/10000 of a penny for every survey and can't cash out until you have $100.00 minimum while you get spam and junk mail galore? Is it one of those things?

Chicken feed. Of course I don't get to participate in many of the surveys. Perhaps you younger folks will get more.

If this is directed to me, I don't keep track of what I get but it is very little. Fun to do the surveys, tho.

Surveys come in three forms: snail mail, email and telephone.

I'm on pineconeresearch.com and erewards.com Pinecone sends out checks for $5 per survey done, and I get 1-2 a week. eRewards gets you dollar values good towards gift certificates and airline miles and such.

I'm doing quizpoints.com currently. They have a bunch of offers for free points, but I just do the daily survey which is worth 26 points. After you get 500 points they'll send you a $10 Amazon (or whatever you choose) giftcard. They send you a $1 bill in the mail just for signing up. I started a few days ago and already have 386 points (I registered for a couple of sites, nothing that requires a credit card or anything). Sometimes you can get points just for downloading something.

Same here. I signed up a couple months ago but thought it would likely be a bunch of crap. Within a couple days, I got my first survey and a check for $5 within 5 days of completing it. Did the same thing just a few days later. The surveys are pretty boring and about grocery store products (usually). But you can complete one in about 10 minutes of your free time and it's easy cash. No, not a lot but you can make $20-$40 a month which covers some food on the table or gas in the tank. I just sit on the checks until I have enough to warrant a deposit.

Edit to note: You're not guaranteed to be accepted if you try to sign up for Pinecone. Just depends on if you fit a demographic they're looking for. When I tried to sign up a year ago, I didn't get in but when I tried again this time, I was accepted.

No. The survey companies that are legit do NOT send you spam or sell your information. You typically get one of three things: cash up front (Pinecone and occasionally some others), 'points' that accumulate towards cash/gift cards/merchandise, and sweepstakes entries for various awards (I've gotten $5-$10 a few times from sweepstakes). The typical survey that you do for points will end up giving you anywhere from around $.50-$10.00 with a typical hour long one being maybe a buck or two. No, it is NOT something you'll do to get rich, but typically you can have one or two or three of them running in the background while you're neffing on here and pick away at them. They're not that bad and it's fun to get extra stuff in the mail (like a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card or a $5 check or something like that.) I'd say that I average anywhere from $10-25/month on cash and gift cards for doing a few surveys while I'm reading AT. The best one is Pinecone. They pay you five bucks for every survey, and more if you actually test products for them (I do that a couple times a year) and the surveys are never hours long. Usually the Pinecone ones you can complete in 10-30 minutes.

If I have any referrals sitting around, do you want me to send them to you? Some survey places require referrals.

e-rewards.com is decent. I set up a special email address for dealings with the site and don't get any spam to it at all. You don't get cash from them but rather points that go toward discounts and airline miles/hotel points. I do the surveys at work and cash the "money" in for Northwest Airlines miles and Hilton HHonors points.

Average surveys give you $3-$5 for 10 to 15 minute surveys and $100 buys you 3000 miles on several airlines. They have rewards at lower levels too.

I use Harris Interactive. It is a place where you get points for each survey and you spend the points for free stuff (DVDs, electronics, gift cards, etc). I average about one survey a week (5-10 minutes to fill out). I also average 100 points per week. Points tend to be worth ~1 cent each when you get your freee stuff. So, maybe I make $1 a week on it. No spam as far as I can tell - other than the emails asking you to take a poll.

No, I don't do it for the stuff. I do it because I want new products/services tailored to my needs. It is great every time you see something that you voted on/tested make it to the market. You can then see what things you approved. The more products/services out there that are exactly what I want the the price I want the better for me.

Plus it is fun seeing new commercials months before the rest of you, testing new products months before they hit the store shelves, etc.

I suppose I could get referal points for anyone who wants to join, but that is probably against Anandtech rules, so I won't bother. And there are better paying polls out there anyways.
