Men?s skeleton makes its Olympic return today after last appearing in 1948. There will be two runs today on the Utah Olympic Park track in Park City, and the fastest combined time will determine the winner. Jim Shea, America?s first third-generation Olympian, is a legitimate threat for the men?s gold. Other sliders to watch are American Chris Soule and Gregor Staehli of Switzerland. Women?s skeleton makes its Olympic debut today. The favorites are two-time World Cup champion Alex Coomber of Great Britain, who won a World Cup event on the Olympic track in Park City in February 2001, and Maya Pedersen of Switzerland, the gold medalist at the 2001 World Championships.
