what's that language translating site that was posted here a few days or weeks ago?

i cant do a search for it since the title was in german and dont remember how it was spelled. anyone have that link? i would really appreciate it :)

nope, im looking for a particular one. i use babel all the time, but the other one i found to work better. thanks you two, but the search must go on :)

just don't expect them to be very accurate. why? because the way we say something in english is not the way they say the same thing in another language. you can't always do a word for word translation.

in english we say "how old are you?" but it doesn't work that way in spanish. if you used a translator for that it would come out "como viejo es usted," which no one would understand. in spanish the way they ask your age is to ask "how many years do you have" which is "cuantos anos tiene."

There's an apocryphal story about a computer that was given two English phrases. The computer was asked to translate the phrases into Russian, and then translate the Russian results back into English.

The first of the phrases was "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak," which came out as "The vodka is good, but the meat is spoiled."

The other phrase didn't fare much better. The computer turned "Out of sight, out of mind" into "Invisible and insane."
