whats stopping you from using google voice as your main number

I've been using it as my primary number for a while now. I agree that the app could be better organized (hello, why don't you sort conversations by contact?), but I really like the features. Free texting, access to my voicemail and texts from anywhere, and call forwarding are great.

I set up a separate number instead of porting my cell phone number, and I have been having some issues with not getting calls to my cell phone number, but I'm not sure whether that is GV's fault or whether it was because of an app that I had installed (shaketoanswer). I uninstalled the shaketoanswer app and am testing it out to see if it still happens.

In having two numbers, I sort of avoid the no MMS issue. If someone needs to send me a picture, they send it to my cellular number instead of my GV number so I can still receive MMS messages. I could easily do without them, though.

Anyne know if you enable email notifications through GV do MMS come through via email?

No. All that happens is GV forwards the messages to your email. For them to forward MMS to your email, they'd have to support MMS in the first place.

Just give people your email and when they need to send you a picture, they send it to your email. Problem solved.
