What's something you have to pay for but wish you didn't?

Now I don't mean stuff like "computers, video games, etc" but other stupid things, such as websites that make you pay to sign up for info.

I hate how sites make you pay for info, such as rentacoder.com and even eBay's 'fees' you have to pay.

Why do you wish there was no cost to use services like rentacoder or eBay? Finding a buyer/seller/coder and paying for that service is part of the cost of doing business. You can go to craigslist, AT FS/FT, etc. if you don't want to pay fees.

Yes, I know that, but if there were a site such as rentacoder.com or eBay where it WAS free, wouldn't you probably use it over the website (assuming it was decent, that is)

Ultramon. It's 2007, Windows should really come with taskbars for each monitor.

No - because every time i use rentacoder I know I'm paying not only for the work being done but for the PROTECTION there - I've had to use arbitors once and it was nice to have that level of protestion there. Ebay/Paypal same thing. Your paying for all the people that work for you when something goes wrong.

Sites like match.com/yahoo personals/eharmony, etc I think its wrong to be charging people for match making when you have an automated process. Ads are cool for that sorta thing but the prices many of them charge are just beyond comprehension.

And the ability to have separate wallpapers on each screen.

I see what you mean, personals shouldn't be charged

i have to agree, windows can support like 30 monitors if you have the cards, yet only 1 tackbar without a 3rd party program

however i do love my ultramon

i get annoyed when i have to register to read news websites

This is really geeky, but I'm annoyed that I can't find a free XWindows server for Windows! All of the good ones (XWin32, Exceed, etc) all cost money, and even X-Deep isn't free anymore.

How can something that's built into Linux and other free UNIX operating systems not be freely available for Windows?

I paid the registration fees on a piece of shareware through one of the shareware clearinghouses only to find out that the author had made the program freeware and was no longer affiliated with that clearinghouse but he hadn't gotten around to updating his webpage. So the clearinghouse got the money for nothing and the author got nothing. I didn't mind paying for the software as it was/is useful to me but I think it sucks that the money never reached the author.

You can get your FICO score free 365 days of the year.

That would be your credit report. The score costs extra.

DVD player. $70 for a damned DVD player is just sad. I like winDVD, but I refuse to pay $70 for it. :|

Exactly. The software costs more than going out and buying a hardware DVD player (complete with software, DVD drive, and decoding hardware).
