An ISA slot 2400 bps modem I bought from a friend back in 1994, for 5 or 10 bucks. At that point I had never even seen the inside of a PC or even imagined what a BBS or online access could offer.

Talk about a rabbit hole.

Curious, how did it change you?

I used to be a cynical atheist, absorbed completely in myself. The Brothers K really opened my mind to how a lot of different types think and I feel it made me a nicer, more tolerable person.

It also helped me come to terms with my broken family and achieve some manner of peace.

Have you read Notes from the Underground? I was personally more affected by that.
