Get a porterhouse, strip on one side, filet on the other.

hmm we just had some great porterhouse steaks last night. i used my cast-iron skillet since it was raining out. i couldnt do them on the grill.

But they were still great. I just wish i could get my wife to eat them med-rare. She likes them cooked all the way through.. blah!

medium rare?! way to ruin a steak :|

wack it's horns off, wipe it's ass and bring it on out :D

I had a "cow map" that showed Picanha is "rumpsteak," but I have never seen it in the US.

Picanha 1

It's a tender meat, and it's preferred because of the ring of fat that improves the taste. Mignon can get 'dry' quickly, better for little pieces.
I saw a nice, whole piece of it in Kroger, for only $98. Not really affordable.

Now, if you like beef ribs, that's how you do it. Only rock salt and slow fire.

Ribs (South Brazil, Argentina maybe?) Gaucho stuff.

you have to marinate/dress it up for the flavor... a good marinade with that to add some flavor + the tenderness = chaching

good god don't ruin a good steak by marinating it!!!!!!!

Only thing one puts on a filet is salt and pepper.

My friend, if a little rain stops you from grilling, you are not a true griller! Wimp! :D

So, "picanha" means cap of rump or rump cover, i dont know for sure.

Do you guys like to barbecue "picanha" too?

most people in the US don't bbq, and you're probably not either :D

edit: that is a brisket, it looks like, which is the foundation of texas bbq. a lot of people in the northeast roast them. here in texas we slow cook them with smoke to create the best bbq on the planet

I have to disagree. The best BBQ in the world is here in Memphis and it is pork...not beef. The world championship of BBQ cooking is coming up in May. Man the riverfront smells so good when the contest is going on.

As far as beef steak, filet is good, but nothing beat a fat portehouse.
