Freedom, being on your own mostly (unless you are one of those who crawl back home on the weekends, which in that case, you aren't living a college experience)

Weekends of nothing, midterms and final cram time, stupid food runs at 3am. Yup, its great.

Well, if you go to a big university the biggest (perhaps best) reason is diversity. You'll meet so many people of varying philosophies and background. You have a better chance of personal growth going to college than not going at all.

The best thing about college is the number of young women who will have sexual relations with you.

Im going to college for sure but I would like those of you here who have already gone to college what is it that makes it a good experiance for you?

I guess what i'm asking id if you like college, why, what you think is so great or not about it and what kind of major you chose.

For most people their college years is the only time where they live out of the zeitgeist in which they were raised.

I went to school to understand how life worked in terms of biology, physiology, and chemistry. Which I did.

During my time in school I also:
Dated an artist, she would paint in the mornings while listening to Muddy Waters and Mozart.

Partied\met\talked with a lot of different people.

Read de Maupassant and Vernes in French.

Had a psychology professor turn me on to Zen Buddhism and the Tao.

Had a philosphy professor help me understand compassion.

Really understood Darwin's theory of evolution and the scientific method.

For a while dreamed in French.

Acquired a taste for French and Italian movies.

Got to sit in the studio during the production of the local late, late, late night movie show. We use to watch it when we were really ripped. The host used a sock hand puppet as a sidekick.

Understood the importance of drinking a lot of whiskey for establishing and maintaining the proper mindset for playing the blues on a guitar.

Got to talk to Leonard Bernstein about the nature of 20th century music.

Got to understand macro and micro economics.

This is just a short list of how my horizons were broaden in college.

Now I go to work everyday, and talk to the people who pretty much do and talk about the same stuff.

I hated college. It was booooring. I had more fun with my friends at home.

Of course, I went to a bad school.

it eases you into the real world. Sure its nice to get straight out of high school and start making money, but with college you have 4 years with a good excuse to be a slacker.

If you wait to go to college then all the young freshman girls will think you are just a creepy 30 something hanging out at the party.

oh yeh and it may teach you a little about responsibility since you ill be in an academic setting wouthout may boundries. But I wouldn't know about that.

I agree. And if you do not search for a job immediately after you graduate you are fudged. Last thing you want to do is sit on your ass for a month after school in today's job market. That's 50,000+ dollars of higher education down the drain because employers don't think you are motivated enough.
