It got me thinking that college looks like fun. I dont know.... Im going to college for sure but I would like those of you here who have already gone to college what is it that makes it a good experiance for you?
I guess what i'm asking id if you like college, why, what you think is so great or not about it and what kind of major you chose.
For most people their college years is the only time where they live out of the zeitgeist in which they were raised.
I went to school to understand how life worked in terms of biology, physiology, and chemistry. Which I did.
During my time in school I also:
Dated an artist, she would paint in the mornings while listening to Muddy Waters and Mozart.
Partied\met\talked with a lot of different people.
Read de Maupassant and Vernes in French.
Had a psychology professor turn me on to Zen Buddhism and the Tao.
Had a philosphy professor help me understand compassion.
Really understood Darwin's theory of evolution and the scientific method.
For a while dreamed in French.
Acquired a taste for French and Italian movies.
Got to sit in the studio during the production of the local late, late, late night movie show. We use to watch it when we were really ripped. The host used a sock hand puppet as a sidekick.
Understood the importance of drinking a lot of whiskey for establishing and maintaining the proper mindset for playing the blues on a guitar.
Got to talk to Leonard Bernstein about the nature of 20th century music.
Got to understand macro and micro economics.
This is just a short list of how my horizons were broaden in college.
Now I go to work everyday, and talk to the people who pretty much do and talk about the same stuff.
