I am a new member of Anandtech forums, after I came into anandtech forum site, I saw a lot of newgg forum " messages". Compare with other e-tailer Newegg seem like a popular IT site.

Don't be a fanboy. They are a good company with reasonable prices but they are no longer the best imo.......

I ordered from newegg on sunday and had by package by wednesday. Good prices too. I like them so far...
No. I order quite often from ZZF but no more than NewEgg, monarch, or Mwave. As you said it depends on the price. On average newegg comes out the best but they no longer have the edge they once had IMO..............they still have the lead in dispute resolution though. I have yhet to see a ZZF rep post on a forum I visit. Maybe I just missed it....

Their shipping can suck. For example, buying a keyboard, floppy drive, and mouse for 15$ ends up costing 30$ b/c each item costs 5$ to ship. You would think that they could just put everything in a slightly larger box and charge less shipping, or make some sort of minimum order for free shipping deal. Otherwise, they have a great selection and are reasonably priced.

Bah to many stupid people here... I'll sum up everything I learned:
Negative side to Newegg:
The thing is Newegg recently (kinda recently) switched their default/main shipping to UPS instead of FedEx. Now, there is a agreement between almost everybody that UPS is such a horrible shipping company it terms of package handling. There are a few exceptions where people do have better service with UPS than FedEx, but i'm talking about the majority of the people.
This is the main issue for all the Newegg bashing.
Newegg also has a strange shipping calculator. For example you order a hard drive and the shipping turns out to be $4.84. If you add another hard drive that is stated to have a $4.84 shipping cost, the total shipping cost will be $9.68. Any person who has dealt with shipping and other online orders will probably notice this is kind of like a rip off. I'm sure 2 hard drives do not cost $9.68 to ship. Order 2 more in the same order and see the shipping double "again".
The only thing you can do right now is to place separate orders if you have more than 1 item in your shopping car. That way you get "free" boxes and "free" packing material which you can use later if you want to ship out something.
Another minor quirk is Newegg's bloated LCD dead pixel policy. Many have argued the minimum amount of pixels to warranty a refund or exchange is too high. (Actually I don't know about the exchange part, but I do know I am correct on the refund part.)
That is about the only downfall with Newegg...
Now to the postive side of Newegg:
The positive side with Newegg is their outstanding customer service. They probably have the #1 customer service for online technology shopping. Evidence of it can be found throughout many tech forums including Anandtech. Don't stop there though, because Newegg is even known in offline communities (friend/family referrals). Newegg also sometimes browse these forums addressing any customer issues and that sets another standard of customer service not really found by other companies. Although I have seen Monarch does interact with the Hard forums pretty frequently by posting coupon codes.
Newegg also does great in the shipping out department. I guess the key to it is their very efficient inventory/packing/shipping facility and an article with pictures can be found on Anandtech as Newegg allowed Anandtech to publish that article. Pretty interesting read if I may say so.
Price is another strong point with Newegg and has been for such a long time. In addition, they have such a large variety of consumer goods in one place making it very attractive for people building complete system at a pretty good price. (But Dell has the lowest prices by far if you want a "cheaper" computer.)

Wow.. You must be a regular Newegg's customer and study them well everyday.
I agree with Trikat. ZZF is the only other online retailer I would even consider. (for computers and electronics anyway) Their prices are comparable to new egg somtimes slightly higher sometimes slightly lower but they do have free shipping on most items. The downside to ZZF is their website which is better than a lot of e-tailers but compared to new eggs looks like a 4 year old did it. Its so hard to find what I need on thier site I usally get from New Egg even if it cost a few dollars more.
