you can do it.

but only if you're under the age of fourteen and only if you have a priest or respected male community member witness you do it and/or aid you.

no, this is not correct. Jesus was a vocal supporter of masturbation.

got any proof?

Well, he won't find "proof" in the Bible, but I'm sure he could find billions of people to interpret it as proof!

In this book, Preparing For Adolescence: How to Survive the Coming Years of Change, Dr. James Dobson more or less mirrors the Bible's view, encouraging masturbation as a healthy act but one that can become dangerous if it causes excessive lust for people or pr0n.

Interesting, I never did read that book but am a big fan of Dobson. Thats good that he encourages it, I know too many people that might have gotten into trouble with lust or pr0n had it not been for a little wanking.

Every woman I know who freely discusses the matter does it. In many cases, more frequently than I'd imagine, but for them it's far more cyclical. It goes hand-in-hand with their 28-day cycle. At times, they do it many times in one day. Other times go a week without. Relationship status doesn't seem to have a big affect on frequency.

Similarly, your position on religion is highly irrelevant to it.

Not a jab, just a statement.

Absolutely true. No offense taken. I am content with live and let live. It's when the religious go looking for "converts" that I get testy.

OP, keep in mind that this is a protestant's view, the Catholic view is much more strict.

Anyway, I think masterbation is fine. The guilt that a lot of Christian groups try to associate with it is far more dangerous to a Christian's faith than the occasional (or daily) wanking.

So, wank and be free.

Raised a protestant myself, (though as far from "devout" as one can get) fill me in on what the Catholic view of masturbation is?

Unless you're a priest.

In which case you get put in the Holy Witness Protection Program.

It's a song from Monty Python: Meaning of Life. While it is amazingly hilarious, and done tongue in cheek, it is precisely so funny because it is more or less accurate.

It is one of the many reason's I'm going to Hell.

But apparantely it is just fine if I was married and my wife used her hand...

[sarcastic] The Bible is REALLY specific on this stuff. [/sarcastic]

The Bible does not actually say either way. Any decision either way is simple indoctrination by those you learn from.
