Just built a new machine, been a long time...curious what people are playing. I got mine specially for diablo 3, but managed to pick up bf3 as well. I've been a console gamer almost exclusively the last few years, but playing a fps with m/kb again feels great!

BF3 is the only game I drop frames in, and thats with everything turned on (Except Motion blur, hate that). Every other game I have runs at max everything without issues. Granted I do not own Metro or the like.

I tried playing Deus Ex: HR last night, I wasn't running a FPS counter but it felt sluggish, even though I turned some settings down, I'm pretty sure my CPU is at fault. Doesn't matter, I'll upgrade to IB soon-ish.

This. Granted I don't have my rig OC'd nearly as much as it could be, this game is a bit slow for me at times with max settings. Otherwise..nothing else has yet.

The Witcher 2 is the harshest game out there right now. Battlefield 3 probably comes in close second.

I still can't run Metro 2033 on DX11-Ultra w/ Tesselation at a decent framerate.

In short, those three games^ are what's pushing my system.

Only Batman Arkham City with Physx and everything else cranked up taxes my system that much. Even Metro 2033 is quite playable with everything on ultra. I really did kind of future proof (to the extent that you can) on this build. Probably wont get a new setup until a single GPU can beat my 580's in SLI or if more and more games come out that bring the rig to its knees.

I am looking forward to the new consoles so that there is a corresponding push in limits of graphics for PC gaming again. Too many ports these days.

Witcher 2 for me too. My current rig is a dell i5 750 from two years ago. I upgraded the psu and about a year ago installed a 560ti. I can run most games on the highest settings with no problem (although my monitor is 1680x1050). For the Witcher 2 I had to lower/disable four settings (ubsersampling, light shafts, shadow quality, #shadowed lights) to get the best performance. At least now I've learned enough to build my own rig next time.

As for Diablo 3, I don't think you need a beast of a system to run it on max so you should be fine if you can play BF3 at a decent FPS.

Lots of games do it, my GTX 285 shows its age. I have a good monitor, but I drop the resolution for most of my games down to 1280 x 1024. I'm currently waiting for the refreshed models of the new NVIDIA architecture. I'm expecting to buy the new card sometime this summer or maybe this autumn at the latest. I'm also waiting (very impatiently so) for Diablo III. I've played the opened beta week-end, and I'm pleased by the performance I had. I was able to max out everything and the frames remained within the 40 to 50 range (at 1280 x 1024).

I can't fully crank the settings for both The Witcher 2 and Batman Arkham City. This is on my Core I7 920 and an HD 7970 on 2560x1600 resolution.
