What's program.exe?

Hi,

I downloaded killbox as a zip file onto my desktop just because I figured it's one of those things that's always good to have available if you need it. I tried to open it by double clicking on it but I got an error message that said something like - "Windows cannot find program.exe which is needed to open this type of file"

So what's program.exe? Do I need it and, if so, how do I get it?

I'm on Windows 98, thanks for any advice.

win98 does not have a built in zip/unzip app. You will have to download one of the many free zip utilities, which will normanlly associate itself with .zip files and windows will then find what it needs to open them.

OK thanks.

Every time I run CrapCleaner it gets rid of everything but theres a couple of files that that seem to resist and come back when I reboot. They are:

c:\windows\temporary internet files\content.IE5\index.dat
c:\windows\cookies\index.dat

I navigated to the first one and double clicked on it and tried to open it in Wordpad but I got a message saying that "this file is currently in use by another application and cannot be accessed".

I don't understand this. I don't use IE5, I use IE6. What is this file doing? Is it spyware or something? Should I delete it (using killbox if necessary)? Why is it resisting CrapCleaner?

index.dat is one of those files that if you do manage to delete it, will be remade [but blank] at boot.

It is used by IE mostly and stores lots of URLs.

If you manage to clear the Index.dat files, don't worry, as they carry no info when they are recreated.
