<< I do situps and pushup, pullup daily but I never run tho... but 3 mile in 28 mins is pretty fair.. am I done for the day after I pass the physical training exam? >>

Pretty much, but it's to your advantage to be conditioned for the 9 weeks in basic. Your delay will give you a year from active service. What kind of qualifications are you going for? The special ops get to do the fun stuff. Getting Ranger qualified will get you in the door to the fun stuff.

cough::Rangers-are-part-of-the-Army,-he-joined-the-Corps::cough. Wow, that was a really long cough

Just want to train myself a better person and get in shape, scholarship availiable too.. I am scare of height so I cannot be in Special Ops or something require climbing high, climbing robe or stuff. a basic marine that can protect himself or fight in a war when needed 😀?

yep, I've a gf that I can't live without.. even for just a little 13 weeks of training... as I just want to apply for parttime marine.. I just go to the bootcamp and after that i work for marine while in school.

One of my best friends just got back 6 days ago from the Marines.

We live at almost 7000 ft and he was a cross country runner. I am giving you this background because he had a slight advantage oh good physical shape that others might not. He went to San Diego which is about 0 ft. It was hell. Other than the hiking up steep hills 25 miles some days (During the Crucible) and the other intense physical duties like hundreds of pushups situps etc you have almost evil DI's screaming in your ear from about 6 inches away all the time.. About everything. He said the games they play with you are hard to handle.. The "gas chamber" sucked (tear gas, w/o the mask). The Crucilbe was a week long, 12-16 hour days of hiking and running up hill, almsot no food. Cold nights and early mornings. Overall he said they kinda lie to get you in, its not what its cracked up to be, its harder than he thought, but he could not be more proud to have accomplished what he did. It was hell, but I imagine it feels pretty dayum good to complete such an undertaken. He has changed, and I really respect what he's gone through. It will make you a better man... however get in the best shape you can before you go !

wow, hundreds of push up or situp?? you scare me out of hell... damn, I just get myself checked up then tell the marine dude I gotta take summer school so cna't be in the bootcamp, still thinking.:Q

<< Kiss your ass goodbye? >>

oh man, that is just cold. come on, we owe a lot to our young men serving our country. it's a great sacrifice, and being a marine is an honor that should be respected.

That wasn't a dig. I'm prior service, so I know what he's in for. And I was only Army, I can only imagine Marine BT.

Manuelk, go do it. Don't make excuses. If anything, you will come out a much better and stronger person, and it will give you something to be proud of to have finished. Go do it, you probably won't regret it. I plan on joining a service in awhile also, still deciding at this point though.

Go do it...............the only advice I'd give is don't do it during the summer..........the South can be brutal in summer. Unless you live in the South and are conditioned for it, living in an oven that's got 85-95% humidity will make your experience very brutal. I'd shoot for early spring or late fall/early winter (we don't get snow, just rain usually.)
