Funny how conspiracists will tell you in one breath that 5G "gives you COVID", and then in the next "COVID IS A HOAX". Seriously, someone should examine their brains after they die. Might figure out a few things...

See that interview with the nurse from I think South Dakota today?

She said she has had patients literally in their last moments dying OF COVID still believe its not real even when she informs them its whats killing them.

You can't make this shit up. 🙁

Peace on Earth and goodwill towards all. 😉

Sorry ... back on-topic! 😀

I would also accept one of these! 😛

Gigabyte should be fine for the AMD cards hopefully ... to the best of my knowledge only the 3080 has power delivery issues.

World peace, ending climate change, cancelling agenda 2030 or "the great reset", ending world famine, and lowering taxes.

But since those are probably quite ambitious, I would settle for a Cybertruck or a Hummer EV truck.

Nothing.

I just want to go on a fucking vacation.

A year ago this week I was in Turks and Caicos and I thought about it this morning as it was cold as fuck outside and it got me really down that the last time we were in the Caribbean was in March of this past year.

I should have been in the Keys right now but I opted to cancel my reservations for this week because I of COVID as well as having a 3 month old and thinking about traveling right now with both going on. Having to get up once or twice in the middle of the night on vacation didn't sound to appealing to me so maybe having a newborn is a good excuse to not go anywhere too.

But next year in like Jan or March I'm definitely going somewhere. I slacked and didn't put in for my son's birth certificate until last week and as soon as it comes, I'm expediting a passport for him. We are still open to the possibility of going to St. Thomas in December though if I can find direct flights. It's a very slim chance but it's in the back of my mind.

Same here. I have a vacation to Japan scheduled in March but it looks like I'm going to have to change it. Our normal fall/winter vacation has been canceled as well.

Next year I think I'm taking like 5-6 vacations if things start to get better. I will have like 5 weeks PTO saved up by like February and will not be bashful in using it lol.

I "struggle" with it because if I need something I buy it.

What I could use right now is a new executive chair. My current one is falling apart - but it's still comfy enough for me to not care.

5G is 99% scam at this point anyway and really not worth paying much extra for .... plus it gives you the Covid !!!!1!!😱

😛 😉

IMO the 4a is the only current Pixel worth it's price.

definitely agree with the first point. But I picked the 4a 5g over the 4a because it has slightly better guts and I am a 4-10 year phone person, if they live long enough, so I'd rather the longer-lasting relevant device.

seriously: my SGS2 still works when I power it on, thing is nearly unmarked since the day I bought it back in '09 (I replaced the battery once, near the end of its use), and will probably pick up a network if I give it a proper SIM; but this garbage Nexus 5X went to digital heaven (isn't that a beach in Singapore?) in less than 5 years.

Damn, you really get your money's worth on phones. lol. I don't care about 5g yet because it's not widely available, and I'm still on Cricket prepaid which is 2nd class citizen. But I can't give up my 5 lines for $100 deal even though I only really use 4 lines. Plus I want to stay with prepaid because it helps me keep anonymous and off databases because they can't link my cell number to credit files. I was shocked how much information I could find on a person just from their cellphone number. But when I tried my number, nothing came up because I'm on prepaid which requires no credit check. And because of that I don't want to sign up for AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile service. I want to be kept off the database. Same reason I don't have Facebook or Twitter accounts. And I why switched to Apple phones and laptops instead of Google Nexus and Chromebook. But it's so hard not to use Google services like Search and Maps.

I had to laugh, saw an ad for Bell that they have Canada's best 5G network... yeah, in like 3 cities. lmao. It's barely even rolled out yet and I don't even know if the other providers have it yet at all. Covid probably slowed down the roll out quite a bit. Unless they magically decide to offer unlimited data plans I don't see the point in 5G anyway from a user perspective. From a network operator perspective it actually is a pretty interesting tech. It changes the way everything works and it's like a cloud and equipment is more plug and play.

Lol did they do that in some places? I have Fibe but it's fibre to the house. Well it was called FibreOP then they changed the name. I think they stopped rolling that out though. I was surprised we even got it here tbh.

Not really on my wishlist, but I've been looking at stepping up to a full frame canon. Maybe even mirrorless. Just not sure I wan't to spend the cash on it right now. If I do, it'll probably be entry level stuff, the 6d mark ii or an RP.

FYI, just got this in my inbox minutes ago:

We launched a promotion on the Pixel 4a (5G) today. Since you recently purchased a Pixel 4a (5G) (order ------------------), we automatically added the promotion to your account!
To make sure you get the $150 bill credit, you or someone on your plan must activate the purchased Pixel 4a (5G) on a full-service plan within 30 days of shipment and remain active on Google Fi for 60 days in a row. You’ll also see these conditions outlined on your Billing tab within the next week. After you meet all the conditions, the credit will be automatically applied to your future Fi bills.
— Google Fi team

So they are running a $150 promo on release day, lol. It means I need to upgrade to "full service" (OK, just learned that it means all plans that aren't "data only." So, I'm already good to go). The unlimited plan for 1 line is $70/month, so not really a good deal if that were the case.

by the way, this is promo is $200 credit for new members that bring their current number to Fi, when purchasing the phone, stay on Fi for minimum 2 months.

and ponyo--I had cricket for several years (my SGS2 and some pre-smart crappy phone). They are great. I was considering going back to them because I thought I might get a OnePlus Nord this time around, but smart people like @Fanatical Meat reminded me that I should fear Chinese-made phones. So I still with only google spying on me instead of also the Chinese gov't.

Depending on how travel restrictions\vaccines turn out I'm tempted to see about taking a month off in the summer to travel. I've got a crap ton of vacation days and miles to use. I've been eyeing New Zealand because it's somewhat easy to get to a lot of S. Pacific islands from there like Niue, Rarotonga, Fiji, Tahiti and Samoa

Well my S7 is apparently on its last legs. Can't make a phone call without rebooting first, call quality has gone from acceptable to atrocious and battery life is maxing out at less than 2 hours.

I planned on ordering a phone direct from Fi and paying in full since they have a great promo deal at the moment on several phones I was interested in. I decided to drop by Best Buy this afternoon and I was able to check out all four models I was considering. (Samsung Galaxy A-71 5g, Galaxy S-20 5g and the Pixel 4a - both standard & 5g versions)

First I have to admit after holding all four in my hands the 4a-5g is absolutely worth the increased cost over the basic 4a which at least for me is just too small and cheap feeling for me even at $349.

Actually playing with all the phones in the store it became a tough call between 4a-5g and the A-71 5g UNTIL you take the price into account. The A-71 is going for $299 while the 4a-5g is $499. (both direct from Fi)

However my final decision was to go with the S-20 5g which just had a head and shoulders higher quality feel to it than any of the other models light-weight plastic builds. Considering the S-20 was also priced at the same $499 as the 4a-5g the choice was ultimately a fairly easy one.

Disappointing though because I really do prefer the Pixel's bloat-free software.
