This doesnt really have anything to do with future technologies , but its always wierd to use a dying a crt. You really know your technology is old when it starts to die. I think you would have to be really cheap to keep using a crt moniter until it dies. The only crt i ever used that was dying was made in the late 80's or early 90's.

i hope you are not referring to me
:Q

my CRT is healthy and just as good as new .... i am thinking ahead to that sad day when i have to replace it with a LCD. 😛

but i'll survive ... and no doubt forget my loss . . . someday
:brokenheart:

and CRT technology IS old . . . really old

really [really] old ....

and still kicks ass!

does anyone know if the "shallow tubes" that are becoming popular on CRT TVs is going over to CRTS or are they just dead ... dead... dead?

CRT arguably remains best for for video but alas 'tis prohibitively expensive if not impossible to make in larger sizes. The shallow tubes from Samsung have reviewed relatively poorly. LCD is so cheap to make and transport that CRT just cannot compete. Even rear projection is falling by the wayside.
