Never did I say it would look worse I just want things a certain way but everyone cant have their ways so whatever they do I will have to deal with as long as it looks really good. I just really hate optimizations that sacrifice IQ for performance, again not saying that this would look bad.

Then go the fvck away. You post on a technical board, you speak about things you don't understand... then you call the rest of us nerds for pointing out your illogical thought process that causes you to arrive at a completely incorrect conclusion? Are you retarded or just THAT dumb?

My comments arent ignorant or pointless, they are merely comments reflecting my own personal thoughts on new technological "advances". So before you guys find something in this post that hurts you dearly and makes you feel the need to lash out, take a second to realize that its just an opinion to which everyone is entitled to. Thank you!

I was commenting specifically on your ignorance, as that's what "pissed me off" about your post. I'm not so much "starting !@#$" than trying to keep it out of this thread. Too bad you seem to hold opinions in higher regard than facts.

As for the CPU on a GPU, that ain't gonna happen for a long time, because of power, compiler, generaility, and expandability requirements--AFAIK, that is. :)

I don't think the CPU will be put on the GPU board, but rather the opposite. One day, maybe, we will be able to interchange GPUs just as easily as CPUs. The motherboard will carry two slots and two memory banks. That will however be pricey and cause many problems, as well as solve many too.

In terms of pure hardware power a lot is coming by 2014 as predicted by Nvidia. If This Performance outlook turns out to be true, my jaw will drop. 100ghz CPU frequency, 44ghz memory frequency....well read the rest.

Yup, leave it up to Nvidia to release the worst performance extrapolations i've ever seen, all done with no regard to the actual nature of the products in any of those graphs, btw where's the power consumption chart?

Intel had something different to say about that, and they actually make CPUs and stuff. I forgot where the link was.

sorry to disagree, but I want bigger, better, faster, more, and dirt cheap :)

 •
I want a video card that will also take care of the physics in a game world with each jointed part having a defined center of gravity and weight.

real-time radiosity

instead of just blurring the edges of a shadow, I would like proper diffraction models

I would like light sources to have more configurable properties like polarity

and lastly I would like video cards and displays to put out contrast ratios in the 50,000:1 range

DX9 is bringing gigantic strides to lighting accuracy, and shaders.

I have a feeling the "Next gen" cards after the NV4X/R4XX series are out are going to concentrate on a rediculous amount of raw fill rate and shader power. As they will still be DX9.0 parts the main focus is going to be on "full blown" DX9 games that will require enormous amounts of geometry and shader detail (unreal engine 3 demo is a perfect example of a high end DX9 engine). Hopefully new power and heat saving technologies like SOI/low-k, and performance technologies like strained silicon will be possibilities on these next gen chips, to increase clockspeeds and reduce power consumption and heat.

Edit: i am aware that ATis chips are low-k now ;)

You know, if they keep going like this, pretty soon, the VRAM will surpass the RAM in amount. Wow, that is insane.

You grow up, youre the one whining. As for drawing conclusions I wasnt, I was merely expressing my opinion and not trying to prove something so read a little better next time.

EVentually, you won't need a computer, just a GPU cause that GPU will be your computer :)

That just means all you can do is game on it, nothing else hehe.

Ya really, it'll just be a GPU inside a monitor with a disc drive, kinda like those Apple's but for gaming and its still a PC.

i would like a card that could do a virtual movie or photo thing.....i seen this before on the discovery channle..the guy had what i thought was a photograph of a dodge intrepid.....but then he began moving round anywhere he wanted in a kinda small 3D world.....but everything was as you would see on a photo...shadowing metallic paints reflectione etc.........think he said he'd used terabytes of ram to produce this small but exact vision of a car in a carpark

Ya I saw something like that but it was something else and I think it was on the Discovery Channel also. That is really cool, its like those cameras they use in X Game type things where they can go all around the person in mid air.

Your "opinion" is based on inaccurate information. Nothing is being "faked." Models only get reused because it's the same damn model. It's called being efficienct... would you create 10 different models for bowling pins, or would you create one model with maybe slightly different textures or even use the same texture, but use a shader to create individuality among them?

Damn... if ATI had been the first to do this people would be praising them... but because it's nVidia it's "cheating."

By the way... the ' key is to the right of the ; key... and the ; key is to the right of the L key... for future reference. ;)
