Whats my problem??

Today I installed Need For Speed: Undercover which is kind of a dumb game. But I started it up for the first time and my graphic settings were set to medium and my resolution to 1024x780. I thought for sure my computer was capable of better settings so I turned the rez up to 1280x1024 and a few of the graphic options to high and AA to 2x. I started it and the game was almost unplayable it was so choppy. I turned just about everything down to low, no AA, and the rez back to 1024x780 and its now playable but when I get into the city and around cars it starts to get choppy again.

Here are my computer specs.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 @2.60GHz
Asus P5N-E SLI
G.Skill 4GB DDR2 800Mhz
Radeon HD 4850 512MB stock
Seagate 320gb SATA2
Vista Home Premium 32bit

So where's my problem and is it time to upgrade?

Should be no problems, the game is just horribly coded/ported. I had trouble with the game even on a 4870 1gb. Not sure how the nvidia cards run it but someone may chime in on that.

Yup...your problem is they got your money. This version got roundly slammed for performance issues for all platforms.

Thanks guys! I guess I don't have any reason for an upgrade. Its been a while since I bought a new game and I thought the technology stepped and I was going to need an upgrade.

Smooth as butter for me. Never had a single slow down. Honestly though, it's terrible game and you're not missing anything by not playing it.

I wasn't too impressed with the game either, it just got me thinking about newer games that will be coming out and I just want to make sure my systems up to snuff. I've had the same mobo/cpu/ram setup for a while now, just wondering how much longer I have before its time for something new.
