hello everyone - I'm a first-time builder, and I have run into a problem early on - can someone suggest something?

amd 64 3400 processor
aopen motherboardl

I've been following the directions tht came with the cpu,
- i installed the retention frame, that was east enough
- i installed the CPU

now I tried to get the heatsink/fan on it, but I can only seem to get one retention clip to "click" and secure. I've used quite a bit of pressure to get the damn thing on, but it wont. I'm afraid of causing damage by applying anymore pressure.

anyone have any suggestions?

also, since I've taken the thing one a and off few times, have I ruined the thermal interface?
