<--- 8 years in Recruiting and HR systems

I read your description and pegged you as a Sales Coordinator, probably a Regional Sales Coordinator, up til you mentioned interviewing.

I honestly don't think you'd be a great recruiter from what you've listed. Recruiting has a lot in common with cold-calling; good recruiters find people who are great at what they do and are not looking, cold call them and try to talk them into switching jobs.

My thoughts as well, I really dislike cold calling. What exactly does a Sales Coordinator do?

Use their good computer skills and self-motivation to look up their job descriptions online via good old Google. :p

You'd basically be the go-to person for a team of sales folks, so you'd need to understand the sales business well but would not be selling, would help track and maintain quotas and reporting (requiring good fast computer skills) for management and distributing to sales teams, be a general all around problem-solver and answer person. You'd probably know the sales systems better than anyone else and help people when they have questions and raise issues when they aren't doing what they should. You're the sales manager's right-hand man and the sales reps' best friend.

Sales Coordinator = Account Exec/Managers' biatch

Good place to start if you want to get into Sales.

But also a good place to go and become expert at your job and invaluable if you want something stable and potentially lucrative. Get everyone to like you and they'll do what they have to go keep you on their team, financially speaking. It's entirely possible to make a career out of it at the right company without ever moving into sales yourself.

Hmm, that really does sound like a good job for me.

Alright, this thread has really made me think hard. I'm not happy with where I'm at in life right now and most jobs I'm qualified for aren't going to make me happy. I'm considering the possibility of going back to school. I would get a masters in psychology, in particular either I/O psych or some sort of counseling program.

The question I have is will I be able to get into a masters program somewhere? I know the GRE tests are important, as well as the essay portion of admissions. However, in terms of my GPA it isn't exactly glowing. I did what I needed to graduate with minimal investment before. I worked full time and took out no student loans, so suffice to say school wasn't a high priority to me. I did it just to do it.

Am I being crazy? Mid life crisis at 26? Should I go back to school, get a masters and actually have some skills to take to the world?
