I've never seen or heard of a brand of dishwashing liquid called Fairy liquid. I don't think they have that in the US.

Edit: I was picturing something more milky colored, not green. :Q

You need to get detergent and water down into the carpet to break down the oil and then remove it either with a wet vacuum or by blotting it up with towels (stand on them).

Then you need to get some clear rinse water down in there and then remove it.

Now hit it with some Febreeze.

One of these buggers. They can be rented at some retail stores. Maybe somewhere like Walmart, Kmart, or perhaps Wegmans. There should be a display at the front of the store with them.

Axe body spray. I use that stuff in the morning and I can still smell it in the bathroom when I get home from work that night. I've never seen a real air freshener that can do that.

I drained as much as i could with loo roll, sunflower oil dosent soak up very well

Soviet, if you don't know what a steam cleaner is or detergent.... I'd recommend you get someone with a larger understanding of the world. You are ill equipped to clean up such a mess.

FYI they call it Fairy Liquid. We call it Palmolive, Ajax, Dawn, etc.
