Even better, if you want cheap/street food, go to either Gray's Papaya on 8th St. and 6th Ave. or Mamoun's Falafel on MacDougal St. and 3rd St. or Ray's Pizza (if you like cheesy pizza, I recommend the chicken pesto slice) on 6th ave. and 11th st. or Ben's Pizza (if you like sauce more than cheese, all their slices are good) in the same area as Mamoun's. After any of those places walk to Magnolia and continue on.

Plenty can be found to do in New York City, if one knows where to look, even for the most sophisticated of Urbanites. From its rolling hills to its scenic lakes and rivers, New York City is a bastion of outdoor activities. One can take up boating, rafting, hiking, snowmobiling, and skiing all in the same day. Activities for the avid hunter are also available in a substantial portion of the city. For those less inclined to take up outdoor leisure activities, many of its fine establishments may provide you with a fun-filled day that you will be sure to cherish forever. There are at least five bowling alleys located in the greater city limits, a basketball court, an arcade, and even a batting cage across from one of the local drinking holes. Then there are also the fine dining establishments to consider. You are encouraged to try some of the ethnic foods served within the city at its two Chinese buffets or its delicious Tex-Mex restaurant.

With all this information to consider and plan for, you can see that New York City is no longer the city to avoid when traveling along the majestic east coast of America. It is a destination that all individuals of all walks of life can enjoy. I encourage you to visit and try out everything that New York City has to offer. And don't forget your fishing pole!
You win!

If you'll be in that general area, might as well visit Sammy's noodle shop. Great food with UNBELIEVABLE portions. Go there hungry. :)

Skip Grays Papaya - It's ghetto and the food sucks.

Edit: Sammy's is at 6th Av/11st.

LOL. I couldn't remember where the cart was located -- I wanted to mention it in this thread. The food is definitely good there. You are the first person that I see that didn't absolutely like it. :)

I love halal carts.. I miss them, actually, since I no longer work in Manhattan.

Walk around SoHo, there's great food at every block

Brooklyn might be a fun change of pace - Polish food in green point, pizza in williamsburg (forninos), steak in williamsburg (peter lugers), dumbo gallery hopping.. the brooklyn museum..

we never leave brooklyn nowadays because we don't have to!

Yeah, it's $6 w/pita. I haven't been there in 2 months, though. Used to get food from there at least once a week. Now that this thread reminded me, I'll probably go there Monday for lunch in between studying.

go easy on the red hot sauce at the Hala Cart. Just a tiny drop of that can sting!

being partially grown up in NYC and now working in London, there is really not much to do in NYC. I like london so much better, so you should come over and visit europe. :)

and for the record, NYC isn't that freaking special. I hate how people inflate the city like it's something so great

It's a dirty, overpriced and crowded city. I don't find it appealing at all. Cool to visit, but to live in is a whole another story. You would have to pay me a lot of money to get me to live in NYC again

edit: I'm a little drunk :p
