So I got an offer to join Microsoft in Redmond.

I'm finishing up business school (undergrad) and I've actually focused my job search on strategy groups/strategy consulting/finance-related work.

This is the only MIS/IS related job interview I took seriously.

So Microsoft employees - what's it like to work there? Anybody heard of this group? See below.

The Corporate Initiatives Group is seeking a Program Manager Intern to work with the Director of Global Delivery. This position would focus on driving efficiencies within the Business Unit IT (BUIT) groups and building the scorecard for Global Delivery.

The BUIT groups create business applications that support key parts of Microsoft?s organization like Sales and Marketing, HR, Finance etc. The Global Delivery group provides strategic direction on vendor selection and recommendations on offshoring/on shoring of projects within the BUIT?s.

The Corporate Initiatives Group will drive strategy, policy and process initiatives across the BUIT?s .

Core Job Responsibilities:

? Assist in prioritizing BUIT pain points and make recommendations on improving efficiencies and reducing cost in the BUIT groups. Specifically, this position will focus on:
o Analysis on Vendor Management process, measures and issues and provide recommendations
o Analysis of our Global Delivery model and make recommendations for efficiencies
o Support the key Vendor relationships and assist in resolving issues
? Assist in the planning and tracking of small scale projects
? Develop process flows and other documentation to describe complex processes. Define metrics to measure current performance
? Assist in improving the dashboard of metrics important to manage the Global Delivery business

Unique Job Responsibilities:

? Opportunity to learn process and technology skills such as project management, process documentation, creation of metrics.
? Opportunity to implement quick wins by proactively looking for opportunities
? Opportunity to learn delivery of projects across geographic boundaries

through my school i was able to get XP pro for 30 and office pro 2003 for 30😀

I just recently went to Seattle for a training trip and visited my colleague who works for MS. He tells me they get paid a ridiculous amount and it makes him sick to see the parking lot filled with bmw's... He also told me he's constantly working... at work and after work. Seems like a job that keeps you busy for what they pay you.. but thats just what I got from it. Nonetheless its a great job imho... seattle's a cool place to live... if you like being around rich trendy people.

^ yup that's all I've really consistently heard about M$. You get paid pretty well but you're worked to the bone for it. Turnover is relatively high.

Through my school, I'm able to download ISOs of WinXP, Office 2003, Visual Studio, and more for free.

i worked there for nearly 3 years, its defintely a good place to get your start, you'll learn quite a bit and will work hard, the pay is ok and you can priobably earn more in other places (their stock comp is sh!t compared to other places of employement)

this position is for the internal it group, you will be better off if you can transfer and move on to a real product but this is a good job

its also casual everyday
