What's in your PCMCIA slot?

I've had my laptop almost a year and haven't used the PC Card slot for anything. I've already got Wireless, so I'm trying to figure out what would be the best thing to stick in there. CF card reader? Bluetooth? GPS?

What have you got?

My old laptop, an H ZE1210, I used a WiFi card and a 2-port usb 2.0 card. ON my 6000, I have not used it except to test a sd card reader.

I have a EVDO card in there (Kyocera KPC650) for nationwide broadband.... works pretty decently. Looking forward to the EVDO wifi router so I can finally cancel my cable service completely.

You can get a PCMCIA-PCI adapter from any online store and swap / use a PCMCIA card on your desktop 😀

Mine has one of those plastic dummy cards in it and probably a little bit of dust too.

I have an Inspiron XPS and it is pretty-much crammed with everything I need in a laptop. I even forgot I had bluetooth until my PDA got a little too close and the laptop "found" a new connection. 🙂

CF Card reader
have a 512MB card in there right now, pretty much use it as a floppy, since everyone I know uses a laptop as well.

I know having my finger in the PCMCIA slot as I posted above is a hefty job, so I now have a solution for the problem, you guessed it I got a dummy finger and stuck it in there, rock solid performance ever since😛

Your mama!! :Q

😛

I don't think I've ever used a PCMCIA except for my gf's old pre-integrated WiFi HP laptop and my dad's K6-2 laptop w/PCMCIA NIC.

With current, modern notebooks, that slot is becoming less and less important. I treat it like a fire extinguisher - for emergency use only. Anything in that slot burns battery power. USB 2 can handle just about all peripherals including Audigy 2 NX.
