It's not an ASCII file so I can't see the contents and was just wondering what info is contained with in... IP, file size, what else?

Torrent file contains:
- Tracker info
- Hash info

That's about it. The hash info is why you can't just "view" a torrent file.

You can open up torrents and view/change them with a couple easily available utilities.

This thread will probably get locked, but amnesiac got it.

You need bittorrent to use the file, it tells the program where to connect in order to get the file the .torrent file references.

I wrote a perl script that decodes .torrent files and displays the human-readable information from them. Let me know if you want it.

Basically it contains a list of files to download, checksum values for all the parts of the file, the tracker URL, file sizes, and stuff like that.

Why would it get locked? I think this forum is a little too sensitive if an innocent topic such as this one gets locked.

Also notfred, I'd like that app, thanks.

Every bit torrent thread thus far has been deleted. Same with WASTE. All gone.
