I am going to upgrade my pc with my tax return. I am now running an Asus P3V4X with a PIII 600E overclocked to 800 mghz.
I want to get something over 1ghz. I have a 9 gig Ultra 160 hd that I need to hook up, and will probably need to slave another hd for more space. Run a cd rom and a burner, zip drive, printer, scanner. I am getting into building websites, using DW4, Photoshop 6, Paint shop pro, digital camera software, fireworks, shockwave etc. I do some gaming too.
Do you think 512mb of ram will do? I have 256 mb now.
I havent been keeping up to date on the latest and greatest. Your help would be appreciated.

And........I am running windows xp

Well if you want to continue to use the P III, and OC you could try this. Or you could go to an ASUS P4 board. Considering you don't want to switch to AMD.

pc133 ram is a bottle neck for the fastest procs, the intel 845eb or eg chipset handles ddr ram, that matches up with the mobo bus speed
400 mhz. This will call for a new cpu,the p4-2.2 with .013 microns is the most . Do a search on this and yes you will be enlightened.
The amd xp+@2000 can also show really quick times in benchmark software. The soyo dragon+ is the front runner in my opinion, for mobos, others are also good,do a search.
