Hmm..no artifacts with only 2 power connectors...12v 4pin and 24pin atx...

plug all 4 in and get an issue...no not the PSU..gotta be something else

BTW the PSU is a OCZ 520w Powerstream

I only have
A64 Venice 3200
1gb 2x 512mg ram OCZ PC3200 GOLD
2x 200 seagate 7200.8 HDD
BenQ 1620 dvdrw
X800XL
Audigy2
3 120 mm fans

FYI..this same PSU ran all the above with a additional dvdrom, and BFG 6800 OC@365/870 instead of X800xl , KVR ram 2x512 on neo 2 plat with A64 3200@2550

so unless the ram and x800xl are sucking up alot more juice..I doubt my PSU is an issue..also the 3 lights on psu are green

that is strange.

i've never used an ati card with this board but maybe thats why some people advocate running the pci-e frequency at 105mhz? maybe be worth checking out at dfi.street.

I saw that recommendation but it seems to the nchange some sort of speed spectrum...I was concerned this may cause an issue thanks for the reminder..I will switch back to 105(but I am pretty sure when running with 2 connectors I had pcie freq at 100 with no artifacts.)

Damn between the memory and vid card..this has been a mess so far..never had such a hassle...

I really wonder whether my mobo is just a bad one...

I am going to flash to 510-2fix and try a few more things

I am so glad I bought this on my AMEX blue..90day return protection....vs rma to a headache back

looks like I may go for an Abit solution with the heatpipe...too many

This worked great...clear the ATI PCI-E cards need pci-e freq at 105

I should have thought of that ....since i had made that change before

Thanks..very sharp pickup

Guess I'll try that as well, not that I'm having problems with my X800, but still...
On a sidenote, does anyone know if there's any way to change the fan speed on the X800 to be changed based on temp rather than "activity level" or whatever you wanna call it?
It's annoying enough that it's loud, but when it constantly spins up and down depending on which way I'm looking in a game is really starting to piss me off.

I use ATI Tray tools and setup the variable fan speed percentage in relation to temperature. I set mine up to anything over 65 C to speed up the fan at least to 45 percent speed. Yes, the fan is noisy, but better than frying your hardware.

I have used a BFG 6800 OC set at 365/870 and I hate fan noise..I used a program for it called expertool and set it always to 50%...quiet...temos never are real issue as Nvidia sets a thresdhold of 135C

So for my ati X800XL I will do the same with ATI TRAY TOOL..set speed to 54%(default idle speed I think anyway)....I am sure ATI temps threhold is probably very high as well..I noticed when using 3D renderer in ATI Tools..the card idles at 44-47...and quick ramps up to 70C+ .....

anyone know the max temps for the X800 cards???

Can you type out all your settings?

That's an assload on this mobo, probably easier to just say I'm running defaults except for the mentioned changes, plus some irrelevant stuff such as changing boot order, not using the flashy logo, etc.

Oh and I forgot to mention, I've triep upping the core voltage, even 1.55 doesn't do anything.

im not trying to bash on you but if you are not even willing to do that much work.. u shouldn't even have bother w/ this board to overclock.. there is tons of stuff that will effect perf/stability of your system.. mine took about a solid two weeks of stressing, tweaking, and studying to get me where i am... u think CPU is pain.. go see the settings at DRAM section.. =P

Know what you mean, just figured It'd be easier if I mentioned that I haven't really touched anything save for the settings I mentioned 😉

Anyway, I'll pick up the new DIMM's tomorrow, if things don't work out, I'll post the whole load 😉

Well, finally an update.
I'm at 9x220 as I'm typing this, before I couldn't even boot Windows at this freq, so things are looking good.
Only thing I did was change memory sticks.

Now to see what I can do with this thing, thanks for the help people

I've heard that DFI Nforce 4 boards and Corsair memory do not get a long, I think.

It only has problems with the corsair value ram as far as i know.

The high end stuff isnt the same memory, and it works fine.

My experience would suggest otherwise.
I'm chugging along at 250x9 now, with the Corsair RAM I was lucky to boot Windows at 210x9 and 220x9 was out of the question.

Maybe it's just different kinds of Corsair, rather than any specific series.

it has problems with all sorts of corsair ram for some reason, even corsair tccd was causing problems, I know that corsair used to have their own custom pcb, I'm not sure when they switched over to brainpower if they customized it as well
