Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (One of the best handheld Zelda's. I actually prefer it to WW and TP)
Etrian Odyssey (if you are a fan of dungeon crawling)
Rune Factory (if you are a fan of the HM series)
Mario Kart
Picross (a great puzzle game)
Pokemon! (If you are into that sort of...thing. I'm not, of course. *cough cough*)

I sold my DS Lite earlier this year but I think I am going to pick one up soon. Which color is better, black or white? I had white before and it was very nice.

As I do in every thread about the DS, I'm going to suggest the two Castlevania games. IMO, they are the two best DS games... or at least the ones I enjoyed the most :)

I'll also second the recommendation for Picross. If you like puzzle games, Picross is a great one.

Zelda
FF3
Pokemon Diamond
Mario Kart
Supermario DS or whatever the hell its called

There are tons of really good games for the DS. My PSP has been collecting dust for over a year. :)

I've got a black one that constantly has fingerprints all over it but white seems like it might start to look nasty after awhile too. There's also red & black now which might be nice.

Crimson & black one looks nice but I am scared of the inferior screens.

The crimson and black ones have inferior screens?

There have been numerous reports indicating ghosting and yellowish tints on the lower screen.

On an unrelated note, are the black ones covered in transparent protective plastic thing like the white ones?

Are there any story driven RPGs with more turn based combat that I've missed?

That is completely true. The game's story isn't really relevant, as the game is all about tactical turn-based combat and dungeon crawling. The difficulty is what makes it fun. :D

And there are surprisingly few story driven RPGs on the DS; it's quite a shame.

How about Luminous Arc, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, and Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime? Haven't played any of them though...

You are right, I was looking at RPGs at some sites and none really caught my interest.

I have a newly purchased C&B DS Lite and I haven't noticed any issues w/ the lower screen, YMMV though.

Aside from all the excellent recommendations already here I have to suggest Metroid Prime Hunters and Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow, Elite Beat Agents is pretty good as well if you haven't played it.

If you are into "strategy RPGs" Luminous Arc is about to be out (or is already out?) and is supposed to be pretty decent.

Other recommendations:
Mario & Luigi Partners in Time (RPG)
Magical Starsign (RPG)
Megaman ZX (Advent is coming out very soon) (Action/Platformer)
Meteos (puzzle)
Tetris DS (needs no description)
Worms Open Warfare 2 (Artillery Game)
Yoshi's Island (platformer)
