whats going on with my cable modem?

My cable modem works fine if i connect it to my computer via ethernet card and cat5 cable


but when i use the usb connection it doesnt work!

it shows up as an active connection in network connections, but IE wont open and no internet applications work


is there something simple im overlooking here?

usb used to work fine and all the sudden its not

Why not just use the cat5? Its usually considered to be more reliable. I'd say reinstall the drivers if you really want usb?
