I don't know if I'm gonna get dinner...I'm stuck at work waiting on some tests to finish up...sad part is I am just here for support for the peons. I haven't done a damn thing all afternoon. All this talk of food is making me hungry though. :(

Leg of Lamb, slow roasted while I slept last night, with roasted potatoes and carrots.

Maybe a small salad on the side with some warm fresh Batard bread.

Oh yeah!! Getting hungry just thinking about it!

Tex-Mex Chili from scratch...recipe:

2 lbs meat (whatever you want, I used 1 lb turkey 1 lb hamburger)

brown, add whatever spices (I just used the pre-mixed tex-mex chili packets)

I added green peppers, corn, big can of chili beans, jalapenos, one can tomato sauce, two jars hot salsa, onions, and a touch of cilantro (if you want).

crock-pot for 6 hours....I've made it on a stovetop too, it's still pretty good...

Possibly, but you still have to get the water to boiling with a steamer insert (which I also have). 20 minutes is from initially switching it on to finish and with the timer on the steamer on it it's controlled easily and shuts off automatically. Even though it's a single-tasker in a way Alton Brown might not approve of it's a convenient device I've used for years and does a great job of steaming veggies.

I love AB, but I'm also a gadget guy - and that extends into the kitchen. I have too many single-use kitchen gizmos to count and I love em all :D

I just ordered a new steamer yesterday, it's not the dual-top one though, it's the small split model. I'll just be using it for veggies, like my old one:

Do you steam fresh veggies for 20 minutes or frozen ones? I'm always looking for ways to make veggies taste better, so I'll definitely give that sauce a try, thanks!

Don't know the entire menu, but I do know it involves slices of pork loin (boneless chops) that my wife starts in the frying pan and finishes in the oven. They're so fucking tender you could feed them to "toofless" people. ;) She always serves chops with applesauce for dipping, so I know that'll be on the table, but beyond the main course, I don't know...or really care.:D

Ended up with the chops, steamed broccoli, and tri-color pasta with a home-made parmesan cheese sauce. MMMM!

That split model is nice. That feature makes it a multi-tasker. :)

I use fresh veggies as often as possible. My wife grew up on canned veggies and I've spent 20+ years weaning her off of them. She's almost completely conviced but she still has a soft spot for canned green beans and packaged potatoes.

Remembering this thread I took a pic of tonight's dinner:

Homemade beer-based, spicy mop sauce for the chicken. It was soooo moist and tasty. bbq chicken heaven.

I'll be home in about 45 minutes where me and my girl are going to chow on bacon wrapped shrimp with vegetable stir fry.

Texas Roadhouse is the bomb...I love it. Always super crowded though, so we only go a couple times a year...
