What's faster-5400rpm hd in raid or 7200?

You see a lot of 5400 rpm hard drives for pretty low prices. I'm wondering what would give faster hard drive performance, 2 5400rpm harddrives in a raid set up, or one 7200rpm hard drive? Raid is pretty cheap-often right on the mobo.

?

this does not belong in the HITK forum.

this question has been addressed a lot.

the 2x5400rpm drives (if in RAID 0) will beat the 7200rpm drive in most tests. and those "cheap" ones are software raid which means higher CPU utilization.
