What's everyone using for a beard trimmer?

I've had a LOT of them and they all suck. Prices ranged from $10 - $50.

I like the 5AM shadow look, so I want it to get close without having my face looking freshly shaved. (Stubble?)

What's ATOT using?

What Jules said.

But I got a nice Wahl hair clipper kit at Costco for $30, that had an attachment it said was for beards. If I had a beard, I would probably use that.

I just use a regular cheap hair clipper. I trim once every month or two these days ... usually keep it around 1/2 to 1 inch long.

I've gotten board/curious and used my premium hair clippers to try to shave my mustache a few times. Using a 000 (0.5mm?) blade, it doesn't cut anything - mustache too short but not stubble-length short. You'd probably need a 0000 (0.25mm) or 00000 (0.20mm) blade to get stubble length using clippers. For that, you'd need interchangeable metal blades. A 0000 and lower blade usually doesn't come with cheap clippers.

Get an Oster Fast Feed for $60 off Amazon and a 0000 or 00000 blade. Probably about $20 for the blade online. Watch out for razor burn because you're dry-cutting.

Otherwise, there are some cheap Philips "beard groomers" I've never tried.

I bought a Braun rechargeable with something like seven different attachments. Works very well.

I have this guy. Works really well. My only complaint is that the plastic guide is flimsy and breaks easily in your suitcase. Replacements are reasonably cheap, though.

I'm actually using the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Styler. I was surprised at how well it works, and for 15 bucks, cant beat it.

Wahl. Although I've noticed that no matter how hard I clean it and brush out all the hair, it eventually starts to jam up a bit, then eventually useless. I tend to buy a new one @ $40-50 a pop once a year.

I've had this one for a while.

I used to have a Philips Norelco QT4050 ($39 @ Amazon). I preferred this one because it trimmed more evenly, but I like the digital read out on the length. It just takes quite a few swipes to knock down the thick stubble to get it even.

I need to specify that I got both of those trimmers for $25 or less through promotions from Amazon or Drugstore.com.

Philips Norelco QT4014/42 is what I use. The lowest setting works just fine for that designer stubble.

as I beard owner I 3rd what Mark and Scarpozzi said. Good unit, sucks up (most of) the hair as you trim it.

I shave every other day... It's be every 3 or 4, but my mustache is uneven. So, what's a beard?
