What's everyone do for beard care?

I grew a beard for my first time last winter, never really did much to it other than wash it with regular shampoo. No oils or anything.

But I'm thinking maybe I should use oils and a specific shampoo. Is that just a fad or does it actually help make it healthier, cleaner etc? I'm growing it again, probably do it every winter now and I figure I should probably care for it more. Curious what any regimens anyone with a beard has to keep it clean and healthy?

When I grow a beard I brush it with a beard brush and use beard oil on it. Feels good to brush it and the oil softens the hairs.

Let it grow till I shave it off. Sometimes I'll use shampoo on it...usually just the same bar soap I wash the rest of me with.

I wash my hair every other day. On those days I use the shampoo for my face/beard. On the off days I use my usual soap. My beard's like a jumble of spider legs. I tried oil in it a couple times, but I didn't keep up with it to know if it helps. A couple times didn't do anything.

Even on my super thick and wiry jumble of spider legs beard this stuff worked, albeit not for too long, but enough to make it worth it.

Now I just keep it short when I do have a beard and all is well.

Google Beard Brand, expensive but worth it, I absolutely hate the hipster vibe the company gives off, but I cannot front on how great their products are.

Have had a beard since I could. I use $20 hair shears. Whatever hair shampoo I am using.

K. I just tried some bath and massage oil I got for my daughter years ago. It's made with rice bran oil, clove, cinnamon, and some other stuff. Smells good, and everything's less knotty. I'll try to remember to keep it up for awhile, and see if it makes a big difference.

I keep mine really short, just enough to give my face some definition. I trim it every few days and use shaving cream on it in the shower as a kind of shampoo. My beard hairs get horrible little hooks on them at a certain point and that's when I cut it.

I just have a small beard, between #2 comb size 0.5mm 1/4" and #4 comb size 1.2mm 1/2. Any longer and I don't like it.

I use Maestro beard shampoo every time I take a shower and follow it up with Head and Shoulders conditioner.

Half the time I also use Maestro beard butter. It keeps my beard together and shaped the way I want it.

Pro Tip: If you have a beard, it is a faux pas to talk about it. It is akin to vegans talking about how they're vegan, or crossfitters talking about crossfit.

I have a thick beard. Today, I could probably run a 9 guard through it and catch some hairs. Usually I take it down to a 6 guard on the bottom and then a 4 or 5 on the sides. I'll run another clippers at around a three over my goatee area to clean that up. I'll shave my cheek area to define a line for the beard, weekly

For 'care' I shampoo it, and occasionally put beard oil. I got a $10 or so 4 oz bottle off amazon and it's almost done after a year and a half. I have a nice wooden beard comb and a boars hair beard brush. I comb the beard out thoroughly to get rid of curling, then I use the brush to shape it .

I just use same shampoo & conditioner as for the rest of my hair.
Have done the same thing more or less for over 20 years since I grew my beard out when I was 15-16.

Anything you can do to soften it for the wimmens is good.

That said, I keep mine short and prickly. lol
