What's easy to use=userfriendly image editing program?

pretty much doing webpage image stuff little bit of editing photos that I scan/digital camed.
Mostly for webpage stuff.
something easy to use.


adobe photoshop 5.5(cant find v6) heard this is real pain in the @$$ to learn.
macromedia freehand 9, fireworks 3, what's the difference?
Corel draw 9 ?
Paintshop pro7 ?

Photoshop definitely isn't a beginner's tool. I'd say Paint Shop Pro is the best value of the bunch; great features for the price, and not too tough to learn.

If you're only dabbling, or doing minor touchups and image scanning, PSP should be more than enough for you.

I'm working with Photoshop 5.5 it was not too hard to learn, just flip through a book and you'll have the general idea in a matter of hrs. With Image ready (comes with it) you'll have quite a powerful combo(for non vector imaging)for both web creation and image editing. The nice thing about putting in the effort with Photoshop 5.5 is that it will be a workable program for you even if you get good enough to work at a professional level. If you can stand the intial outlay of cash (quite expensive comparative to others)then photoshop 5.5 is a safe bet.

Paint Shop Pro is probably the easiest to learn for general image editing, imo.

30 min max to do adequate job of editing.
