What's causing these high temps at idle?

Just installed a Brisbane in a Biostar TF7050-M2 mobo with 2gig of ocz ram. CPU is running at default 1.9ghz.

Speedfan 4.32 reports these temps.

Coretemp reports 16 degrees C for each core, while the bios reports temps at 50 degrees C.

Are any of these temps reliable, and how would I lower them?

Hrm...

Pre-applied on what? Which HSF are you running?

Bah!

Don't make 'us' drag this out of you... :)

It's summertime! Maybe you need to turn your air conditioner down...

Heh, you'll have to bear with me, I'm still noobish.

I'm using the stock hsf that came with the cpu, and it had some thermal compound already on the heatsink.

No problem! Sorry if I was rude... :D

My understanding of the situation is -- temp sensing in AMD Brisbanes is broken.

I don't have a Brisbane, so I cannot confirm or deny this, but that's MY understanding...

Personally, if it was me, I wouldn't worry about it... especially since SpeedFan is reporting your fan speed @ 675,000 RPM. Hello?!?!?! ;)

You might consider using Everest Home Edition instead, but that isn't a cure-all... kinda ancient in computer years!

Maybe someone else will pop in here and set the record straight!

Ok, thx.

I've read about the brisbane's bad temp readings, but I still think something is wrong in my case. The bios goes into safe mode if I set anything past 225 fsb.

Um...

BIOS is judging things by these supposed *bad* readings, right? So, that would make sense...

Sounds like you're between the hammer and the anvil on this one!
