What's causing these fine lines across my screen?

Feeling I wouldn't be able to explain my problem as well without any screenshots I uploaded a couple to this address:

Some thoughts on what could be causing this to happen to my
computer would be appreciated.

I've gone from thinking that it was a problem with my motherboard
overheating but realizing that this wasn't the case after checking
the temperature and seeing it never went over 50 degrees.
To thinking it was the video card overheating and this one I feel
is still a possibility. To now wondering if it's possible that my
monitor isn't compatible with my system since I'm using an old
Packard Bell monitor that came with my older computer.

Win 98SE
AMD TBird 900Mhz
Asus A7V KT133 motherboard (with latest bios version installed, 1007)
TNT2 M64 Pro video card (I've tried the drivers which came on the
included cd, the version off of nvidia.com, 6.72, 11.01)

While playing a 3D game I could play at the most for 30 minutes
before my whole system freezes. If I remove a panel from the
tower and stick a fan pointing on the inside of the tower then
I can play a game for over an hour and a half. It happens even
during regular use of my computer so it isn't only caused by 3D
games.

Also there's no chance that I can get any help from the company I
bought it from since they mysteriously disappeared in the last few
months.

If your mobo temp is 50C then your cpu is probably getting too hot because you are just blowing hot air on it. Get some more or better case fans.
