Both products are priced equally.

The Kodak 3215 has 1.3mp with optical zoom.
The Kodak 3500 has 2.2mp without opticial zoom.

Only because I had two camera's that only had digital zoom, and they are worthless for taking pictures of anything that moves, ie people. You have so much more range with a optical zoom. And digital zoom is worthless. It pixelates your shots at best and you typically have to do it thru the menu options which means by the time you set up the digital zoom your shot is long gone.

Might want to rethink your timing, if this is all you are willing to spend right now and aren't desperatly in need of a digital camera. What you want as a min to start enjoying digital photos is a 2.1 with optical zoom. Plus Kodak isn't really your best bet as far as quality goes. Read some reviews, and check out Fuji camera's, the quality between those two is night and day.
