whats better

me and a friend are just having a dispute and i think the 5500 would do better than the 9000pro. We just want to see which ones better. I have a 6800 ultra in my case.

my money would be on the 5500, though they both suck. you can get either of them in a PCI form so you know they aint nothing too good.

*edit after looking at benches*

Umm...BF2 needs a minumum of an FX5700 or an ATI 8500, I'm going with the ATI as the 5500 won't even play BF2.

If you're going to get a 5500, might as well go for a ati 9800. Ati clearly dominated the 5XXX era. I have friends using the 5900 and BF2 didnt run so well either. If you really need to get a new video card, get a 6600 GT at least.

my $0.02

I would say 9000 Pro, as it is just marginally slower than an 8500, and the 8500 runs BF2 Absolutely flawlessly at 1024 minimum settings maximum draw distance.

Eh, maybe with an A64 or something. My 8500 plays at 640x480 with minimum view distance and graphics settings and runs around fifteen to fourty frames per second, depending on whether or not there's a battle going on. Then again it's on a P3 with 512MB PC100 SDRAM, but who would bundle an awesome computer with an old video card for gaming?

hey there , If you do decide to go with one of them I have a mint condition 9000 Pro in retail box still that i bought for my old computer but dont even have the computer anymore. Ill sell it to yah!
