I just recieved my new heatsink and fan and was wandering what is better to clean the old thermal paste off?

I have 100% pure acetone and S-L-X Denatured Alcohol.

not sure what effects methanol will have. id rather use alcohol and
 
yeah. normal alcohol is best. not sure if acetone evaporates claenly either. have to check back to chemistry class and what is in the acetione mixture and their specific properties.
 
i got some 99% pure isopropyl alcohol pretty cheap at my local pharmacy....

im not even using it to remove paste, just cleaning surfaces prior to applying
 
I actually used dish soap then isopropyl and that does a real good job. The dish soap lifts while the iso later cleans the film left behind.
