Iphone has a working flash. I can show you how if you want, it has a toggle in sbsettings so you can turn it off except when you want to go somewhere to watch flash videos. like hulu

It is relevant, just like custom ROMs is a valid argument in favor of Android. Which you have to "root" to accomplish.

Got a droid myself but gotta agree with you - jailbreaking's easier than rooting in many cases, so it IS a valid argument. How is it fair to say custom roms on the droid (a hacked feature) is a positive while flash (after jailbreaking) doesn't count on the iPhone?

Just like the nerds shouting that Droid X has a better camera than the iPhone due to gross pixel count, yet they say that gross pixel count doesn't matter for the droid x's lower resolution screen... Never mind cam image quality/lack of noise, which iPhone has the current lead on. Though sony needs to get back on top with a froyo handset- their camera phones tends to be awesome.

I don't really understand why nerds embrace one platform over the other and just spread misinformation/ignore facts to get their point across - I'm a nerd and I value logic and the truth, not clinging to one team vs the other... I just don't get it.

The simple truth is that the Droid X is an awesome phone, for certain things. The iPhone 4 is also an awesome phone, for certain things. Productivity wise, I'd prefer a Droid X- large screen for awesome web browsing, nice feature set, and plenty of productivity apps in the market place. For consumers, the iPhone's just great - it's a well rounded entertainment device, though everyone knows that Apple punishes early adopters - the iphone 4.5 will be cheaper, have bugs fixed, add features that should have been a no-brainer, and perfect what started with the 4.0. People will moan and bitch that it's basically just the 4 but perfected, but that's just how apple works. It's not a bad business plan at all, Motorola did the same with Droid 1 and Droid 2.

Anyways, yeah, I feel very lucky that we have so much choice in the market place. Heck, I even like my retro feeling Blackberry Curve - it's very basic but the battery life is astounding... It's been 6 days since I've charged it! There's plenty of room in the market for everyone, and different niches to fill. It's also awesome that Google (and their partners) and Apple constantly try to out do each other, it really forces both to innovate at a rate previously unseen.

And the sony/android gaming phone? If it's battery can last all day then sign me up!

BTW, since there seems to be a lot you don't know about the iphone - chompSMS and biteSMS are the same thing, one for the android and one for the iphone. I don't mean that in a mean way, it just seems iPhone powerusers know more about android then android power users know about iphones. Its the bias that android users have, that most power users on the iphone dont have. This is the case because hackers had to have the iphone because it was the best out, android has since caught up so a lot of people have converted.

A lot of the developers that did iphone apps have started doing android apps. And the fact is, all of the best developers that android has used to be iphone only because iphone was the only thing relevant, now they do it for both.

Which is why I specifically said "Power Users" - basically most people who aren't jailbreaking their iPhones are the sheeple you speak of - many of which probably don't even know what it is or why they would do it. You can basically separate forums that way too. If you are on Apple forums, then yea they are douche bags - if you are on forums that are strickly about modding the iPhone or are about the iPhone jailbroken - ModMyi.com is a great example - then you will not find these people.

Do they load faster, slower or in equal speed to an equivalent non-Flash website (based on your best estimate). If you cannot answer, can you point me to a place that could?

First of all, the vast, VAST majority of Flash games are designed for mouse/keyboard and secondly, iOS is based on OS X, which has horrifically bad Flash performance.

I have my Android phone rooted and have flash cus my phone will never get 2.2 and have it turned off 99% of the time but having the OPTION to turn it on or off is better than not getting an option at all.

What I haven't found is much in the way of an honest first hand experience. You seem to be knowledgable, why not share some with me? I have very little experience with Android, a fair amount with older WinMo, and some with BBOS.

I have an old Android phone, the Samsung Moment so Flash performance on it sucks and battery life on my phone is already crappy without Flash so I don't notice any difference in that aspect and I hardly use Flash anyways so battery impact would be minimal. I only turn it on when I visit sites that I know need Flash. A friend with a Nexus One using Flash on 2.2 Froyo that I've played with for a few hours is obviously an infinitely better experience than on my Moment. He told me he never turns on Flash at all so he wasn't able to tell me if there was a huge battery hit and most reviews that I've read on the Nexus One don't seem to indicate a huge battery hit at all either. It's great to be able to use it to visit sites that need it but watching embedded Flash videos suck on my Moment and my friend's Nexus One running 2.2 was MUCH better with embedded videos as it should be but still not great enough performance to go crazy over. Like said before, most embedded videos were obviously not made with mobile phones in mind. Hopefully with the move to HTML5 that all changes.
