Whats the best Socket A motherboard that has an ISA slot?

Im upgrading a PC for a friend. The problem is he uses an old ISA controller card with some allen bradly equipment.

Anyone know of a GOOD board?

From Pricewatch.com:

"Your query socket A ISA returned zero results."

Will try some of my other favorite places.

From Motherboards.org:

"Sorry: we were not able to find matches for ISA socket A"

I get all kind of results under intel. It seems there were quite a few socket 478 boards with ISA slots.

Sorry, buddy.

Let me rephrase.

The ARE socket A motherbaords with an ISA slot.. No they dont sell them anymore other than ebay because they are simply old.

My question is which socket A boards with an ISA are good?

Then you already know more than me. Cuz I couldnt find none.

I would say any good brand name. ASUS, ABIT, ECS, FIC, SHUTTLE. Whatever was decent back in the Socket A days.

Isn't there also a second direction to go? There probably was a PCI version of the controller sold at some point, wasn't there? You have to be aware how far back you are trying to go to find ISA slots still used (we're talking "SlotA, Slot1" period stuff, not Socket A). It is true I just got rid of a Slot1 Intel MB with a 440BX chip set, that still had two ISA slots, but the cpu was a 450 MHz P-II. A Slot1 PII (I suspect using P-II and Slot1 together is redundant. I don't know of any Socket 7 or Socket 370 P-II's) that was about eight years old. It predated Windows 98.

just look at some board with a VIA KT133A Chipset, not just KT133.
With these mobo you will get the best performance with an ISA slot.
Dont know if is there any DDR mobo with ISA.
KT133A only works with DIMM Modules.

Hehe I'm sure someone must have written a driver out there somewhere to pick up the card correctly.

Edit: Better yet, does he need to have a newer machine for this ISA card? Why not put the card in an old machine since it's ISA the requirements for the hardware would not be very high and it would work in any old machine. I would then keep that machine around with the old tech (Win98/2k, ISA cards, etc) and just use it for that peripheral.

Haha yes ELECTROLYTIC CAPACITORS those green can things you see can have bulges in them and leak out. When this happens you have a dead system. There's a homie that fixes them if you're desperate though.

Iwill KK226, has a buy it now option still. Iwill is a 10 times better mobo company then Biostart as they almost only make Workstation and server boards.

Edit: Forgot the LinkKK266

Wow, this thread is bringing up memories. Funny thing is, I have used both motherboards mentioned in this thread.

The Iwill KK266 is definitely the better board over the Biostar M7VKD. The Iwill is much more stable and has more overclocking features. My brother is still using this board as his main desktop PC. However, the M7VKD isn't too bad either, I'm still using that for my HTPC. It's not as flexible or stable, but it still does the job just fine.

I'll second the IWILL K266(R). I had the raid version. IIRC it was one of the best mobos reviewed by Anandtech at the time. Now for the not so good. IWILL started shipping factory refurbed mobos as new. My supplier dropped thaem like a stone when they did this. Mine was absolutely solid as a rock. It had built in 4.1 sound which was pretty good for the days. I did use the ISA slot for a modem without problem. Make sure that you flash the bios to the latest version from the IWILL site if you get the mobo.

I have many equipment controlled by PCs that need a ISA slot to accomodate the controller, and whenever the PC dies, I have been building new ones with mbs that have ISA slots. Unless there is an overriding reason for Socket A use socket 478 mbs - and I strongly recommend the Supermicro P4SCA - available new - . I have also used Gigabyte 6VTXE ( about two years ago).
