What's best 21" Monitor (Under $1,000)

About 3.5 years ago, I purchased a 21" Sony 500PS and love it. I'm in the market for a new 21" and have no clue what to get.

When I go to the Sony Page; I see the current line that's similar to what I purchased.

Can anyone help me out? I haven't read any reviews on 21" monitors lately and really want to pick a nice one.

PS: If you can suggest a 19" as well, that would be great.

Thanks,

Terrrapin

i sould say a 900nf for 19"

and i am using a sony g520 thats a 21"and i like the samsung 1200nf thats a 22"

If I was you I would rather go for an LCD than a 21" crt now. There are many good monitors maybe mitsubishi. I dont know about the F500 that might be out of your price range though.

Why would you go for an LCD?

I thought CRT displays were higher quality and less money, and the only reason for LCD was the space saving.

Why?

Ibm has nice monitors. (of course I say that, I own one) 😉

They use the Sony Trinitron aperature-grille technology.

Best darn monitor Ive ever owned! period.

And Ive been building my own & friends pcs for over 13yrs.

I have a 21" IBM P260.

IBM 21" Monitor, and the IBMs are one of the few who have 21" monitors in black. (the P275 is the same monitor, its just one of those yearly name updates)

REVIEW

I just got a NEC FP1355 22in flat screen crt monitor and love it. One thing about Sony, they have a great picture but customer service is very poor according to many. I called NEC sevice before I even bought my monitor, 24/7 toll free and they were very good, that service call and the reviews is what convinced me to go NEC and I am glad I did. I got mine from Dell they have great specials and free shipping alot of the time. Oh one more thing about NEC I was thinking about the next model up as it also has a digital input on it and when I asked them about the picture quality of that output vs the standard one they said that I would not be able to tell the difference, so I thought that was nice of them to not try to get me to buy a more expensive model when it wouldn't really do me any good.

whatever you make sure it's trinitron and or diamondtron.... and it's gotta be flat baby!!

the only 21" i've had more then a few minutes of eye ball time is the mitsubishi 2060U...and it gets my recommendation. people have been saying great things about the samsungs as well.... and oh course sony, they have always made a great tube...

I intentionally picked the F931 from Eizo cause it's not an AG(Trinitron or Diamondtron).
I hate those two lines, cant stand them, so I think "Make sure its a <insert fancy name for AG here>" is a bit of an off statement to make.

Anyways, based on my own experience, I'll recomend either the F931(Shadow mask) or the T965(AG), they'er about the same price.

Interesting.

I didn't have experience with their higher-end ones, but they consumer-oriented models were all crap, in my experience.
