for quality, I am thinking of a Matrox G400 16mb
for price, a Savage4, i740, tnt2 m64 or some ATI OEM? or even a Trident Blade?
where my dad's works, all the comps are even equiped with s3 Trios or Virge!!!

so a 20 bucks Trio or Virge is ok?

edit: thx astro, forgot to add, no 3d-extensive program involved.

a voodoo5 6000 should be enough, but you might wanna try a gf2ultra because ..... errr...

A good card with really sharp 2d that you can get in that range is an atiragepro , or an atirage128vr.. The tridents and SIS aren't that good 2d image wise, so if you need it for large spreadsheets or something get the ati. The matrox is kind of expensive, so you might want to get som g200s cheap or even some old millennium2s

well it depends on what resolution and refresh rate you are running the cards at. Unless you have a huge mionitor (19"+) or very high refresh rates it is doubtfull you will see any imporvement by getting a new card.

That said Matrox have excellent 2d, and a G200 will do very well. (f that is a bit expensive look for a G100. 🙂

Add a second monitor and get the Matrox G400 Dual Head. Dual monitors are really great - you'll wonder how you managed without them - especially for business and web surfing apps.

I'd go with a Matrox card. It could be a G200, a G400 or even a G400 MAX if you can spend some money but even the good old G200 is still very great !!
