I just heard the Gifford husband talking about the incident today and he was so uninformed it wasn't funny. He was just wrong on so much.

That is why as we have a "discussion" about guns we need to squash any irrational and emotional bullshit like blankslate

Yet you have nothing to say about the fact that few self-defense shootings do require reloads. Because people are incapacitated early or if they can flee from a person with a gun they will.

You say you need dozens of reloads for your firearm... if your fantasy becomes reality you'll go down in shooting history. I don't know whether to wish you luck with that or pity you.

Self-defense shootings rarely involve reloads because everyone uses "high-capacity" magazines. Limit magazine capacities and expect to see more reloads, or more likely, more beaten/raped/dead victims.

You should read the link you posted. One of the posts is about a home owner who ran out of ammo in his revolver and had to beat the intruder with an unloaded shotgun. Another notes that NYPD officers routinely ran out of ammo with revolvers, but rarely reload now that they carry semi-automatics with 15-round magazines.

I think I saw the same one, hyperbole, and contradiction is all I heard. He say he and his wife, and millions of Americans have guns for self defense, but dangerous people have guns ...well no shit, that's why people have them for self defense, dur.

The simple fact is that we can try to, but will never be able to completely keep guns out of the hands of bad people. The solution isn't to legislate guns out of the hands of the right people, or to neuter the guns they do have so that only the criminals have powerful, effective guns, the solution is to make sure that law-abiding citizens can have and carry firearms that meet the threats they may encounter.

My house is unlikely to burn down yet I have insurance and a fire extinguisher.

Likewise I have an assault rifle and even an assault knife ( it's black and scary) in case of a home invasion.
