I just bought FarCry yesterday and got my comfort settings in place. Although I would like the framerate to be much, much higher, 35fps seems to be adequate and playable (no slide show). So I would have to say that 30 is the absolute lowest I would care to play at least this game. 60fps is my magic number though. For any game.

personally with any game even ut2k4 i must have atleast 35-40 fps, but if it shidders for a little bit and drops to like 25-30 im not gonna complain. With my soon to be new card (6800 ultra) i expect nothing to be below 40 FPS.

I think it depends...if i'm doing a FPS I turn down resoluation like crazy and details on my mx420 and its nice enough...i can't say how much fps it really is

as for other games, like RPGS i turn up the grpahics a little and suck in the choppiness b/c unless its diablo style, there isn't a need for such a huge FPS~

either way games i play look like ass

maybe thats why games are a rarity for me nowadays ;)

Though I can manage Far Cry on 800*600 on my rig with most details on high (XP2800+ with 512 of ram and an mx420)

I aim for a minimum of 60 FPS at all times and I can easily see if it drops below that.

How do you check the FPS when playing FarCry.

i'm not happy unless i'm getting 70+ fps anymore
cause there are always points that slow down and i wanna have that extra "buffer"

35FPS+ is what I like to see, obviously the more the better but I don't like it to go below that. I run Far Cry at 1600x 1200 no AA 8x AF with everything set to Very high but sometimes I put shadows just on "high" depends on my mood. :)

If I drop below 30 fps I will lower some of the settings. 30 fps is the minimum for me.

What irritates me is stuttering. Obviously I like high fps, but if it's constant, I could go as low as maybe 24fps or certainlly 30 without any real complaints. I love that some Japanese console games still slow down rather than skip frames. I MUCH prefer that (I realize that's only an option with single player stuff, but that's 95% of what I play anyway).
